The Cuomo administration is preparing to shove thousands of mentally ill New Yorkers out of supervised settings — where they can be forced to take their medication — into far less restrictive, far more dangerous “community housing.”
Albany, under pressure from the Obama administration, recently ordered psychiatric facilities not to place any discharged patients in adult homes, where staff can ensure they take their meds.
Instead, they’ll be placed in “community housing,” without full-time supervision.
This is part of the state’s plan to essentially empty adult homes into community-based “supportive” apartments, leaving up to 6,000 people — including those with schizophrenia — to live on their own, with minimal supervision.

It’s OK, see, because they have outlawed guns in NY. So it’s cool.
You can thank Jerry Rivers for getting this ball rolling in the 70’s with Willow Brook. Instead of reforming the system, they through the baby out with the bath water.
Group homes were the result of it and now they want to close them. It’ll be out-patient clinics now with virtually no supervision whatsoever.
Liberals just love to experiment on the general population and use them as guinea pigs.
On the lighter brighter side, the crazy violent ones won't be able to buy large soft drinks...
Not all of us are that way.
But enough do suffer a mental disconnect that keeps the rest of us from making a difference.
Plus, New York has long had an issue with Imperial Governance in Albany.
[We actually did have signage that read “Mario M. Cuomo, Emperor” as you entered NY.]
NY elected representatives also brought to the world “Tammany Hall” style politics.
Not all of the state is Albany or NY City.

I believe that was the start of the push to close state mental institutions. The result of which was group homes. Now they want to close them.
It's how liberals gave us the homeless and hopeless to undermine our values... This choice - one more liberal 'feel good about themselves' choice - was a crime against those in need and a crime against working class families.

Amen. Looking to escape. I believe NY is done and over. Weren’t we the one who decided not to go “vote” for a Union, because we would vote no?
Instead we decided not to show up since a full count was needed for the USA?
This is the Obama philosophy: Save the money, let them loose, and if they die, they die. It does not account for those who survive long enough to be readmitted to psych hospitals, only to go around the track one more time.
And when Carter did his thing, crime rates shot up.

Release a mental patient.
Allow the patient to buy a gun and pass the waiting period.
Patient shoots up the school yard in Stockton, then kills himself.
Bun bill immediately pulled out and passed in a heat of passion.
California gun owners loose their rights.
