Graham: Vote yes but fight on debt ceiling
Washington Post ^ | January 1, 2013 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 01/01/2013 11:56:28 AM PST by Uncle Chip

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged House Republicans to accept a “fiscal cliff” deal passed by the Senate early Tuesday morning — and to prepare to extract concessions from Democrats in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

If the House fails to pass the deal, Graham told Fox News, “We’re going to get blamed and about two weeks into this, we’ll fold like a cheap suit.” Instead, he urged Republicans, “Work with me and others never to raise the debt ceiling again unless we address why we’re in so much debt.” Graham made a similar comment to the National Review, saying, “It’s not all I would have liked, but it’s called American democracy, so on to the debt ceiling.”

And on Twitter, he wrote, ”The debt ceiling fight is where we can make major spending changes and prevent the country from becoming Greece.”

Graham is up for reelection in 2014, and he could face a tough primary challenge from the right. He’s clearly seeking to make the case to conservatives that Tuesday morning’s vote doesn’t mean caving on spending.

And you know... I could argue that position if I was Boehner all day long. Would do a press conference every day and not budge on that position. Let msnbc, cnn, cbs, nbc, and abc say whatever they want. Its two years until there is another election. I’d do a presser every single day until the senate voted on the house bill. If it took 9 months. We had the high ground. We had the defensible position. I think we still have it, but not like we did.

Go on MSNBC with those lunies and stay on task. Say.. what, now you want to keep those bush tax cuts? You wanted to get rid of those tax cuts because they only benefited the rich for the past 4 years. Now you want to keep them? Gee Rachel.. .maybe you ought to call president bush and apologize. I would have so much fun on that television show. And this clown has the opportunity to do it! He could actually call them and get prime time on msnbc, cnn etc. And he won’t make the point. That’s why we should fire him.

To believe your post, one would have to believe Bonehead believes in
conservative values. Bonehead is a big Goverment hack, which is why
you never see him out defending conservative values.
He is a tool of the K-Street Money Changers. Nothing more.

Every time that the GOP gets its butt kicked by the libs, they surrender and say, “We’ve got to pick and chose our battles”. Ummmm. When will that be?

“This should have never got this far.”

Your whole statement is true, But I will raise you one more, This should have been settled a long time ago and if there were Adult Representatives instead of corrupt, self interested, politicians in Washington.

Worst case it should have been settled with the last debit ceiling raise discussion, and NO the ceiling should NOT have been raised. This is treasonous in that it is enslaving the citizens, dumb citizens yes, but never the less the good ones also!

The whole premise that someone who makes any defined amount in the previous 12 months is “rich” or “poor” is just stupid. The whole basis for the discussion is something offered by the mentally challenged in Washington to an equally stupid public. Wealth is not what you make, it is what you have. And what you have is not the business of the federal government.

The entire tax system in the US needs to be scrubbed and replaced with a small national sales tax. The law should say that the sales tax cannot be changed for 50 years and if a new Congress does change the rate it starts backthe original rate.

Changing subjects, we need a campaign finance law that says only registered voters may give money or anything else of value to a candidate for Congress but only if the person is registered to vote for that ONE candidate that would represent them if elected. IE: If you cannot vote for someone you cannot donate money to them.

And he and McCain and McConnell and company wonder why they lost seats in the senate. That kind of strategy and leadership led to mccaskille getting re elected. They deserve to be the minority -forever

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged House Republicans to accept a “fiscal cliff” deal

If Lindsey Graham is for it, it is something that a non-RINO should vote against..
