An evergreen bill imposing life imprisonment on gays is arguably nothing more than an ugly diversion in the hands of politicians eager to avoid real problems, writes Jocelyn Edwards. Rebecca Kadaga, Ugandas speaker of parliament, broke her pledge to pass the countrys infamous anti-gay bill before the years end on Friday, as the lawmakers in the small East African nation broke for the holidays without debating the legislation. And so, a population found in one survey to be 96 percent opposed to homosexuality wont get the odious Christmas gift she had promised. But for the government, however, that hardly matters. For Ugandan lawmakers, the anti-gay bill has served its purpose again.
While westerners protested Ugandan embassies worldwide and posted petitions on social media, some in the East African nation sighed. Government critics, watching the almost cyclical return of the matter to prominence every few months, believe what has become known as the Kill the Gays bill is merely a cynical ploy to distract from an acute governance deficit in the nation, a flimsy smoke screen for Ugandas more pressing problems. President Yoweri Musevenis hesitance over the bill, which originally proposed the death penalty for the offence of aggravated homosexuality, is well documented.

If you would stop being hysterical over what appears to be a topic very close to your heart, you would notice that I never said I supported the execution of homosexuals.
You are name calling - as always, revealing loss of control.
There is a lot more going on that an attack on homosexuality here, and with the recent reports of many countries in Europe withdrawing financial support because of serious corruption...I do think this is a smokescreen all the way.
I wouldn’t assume that AIDS is spread by heterosexual behavior in Africa. Logically, it shouldn’t be different. Follow the money.
Quote the old testament if you like. Christ came to change all of that.
We're all sinners and if there was one sin that I struggle with chosen to be execution material, well count me right next to the gay man in Uganda. Say otherwise and line up with the Pharisees. I personally am choosing the other line, right next to the Publican. May God have mercy on all who are choosing to stand with the Pharisees in Uganda.
Oh and not to be remiss, but the second spinoff event was perhaps a single male gay airline attendant, and the bath houses and high level of promiscuity in this country.

I didn’t quote the Old Testament and I don’t understand your post at all.
Did you mean to reply to someone else?
The logic from some reports is that there is an old voodoo belief that a man could rid himself of a venereal disease by giving it to a disease free female (or even baby). Disgusting, of course. But it should not be ignored. The actual demographic facts are that homo activity is much more frequent with respect to heterosexual activity in the US than in other places, even those who have rolled over and instituted “gay marriage.” In France it’s a bragging point to have mistresses. In US it’s tolerated but not yet flaunted.
Go do some research on the people that the Communists in Russia actually did refer to, contemptuously, as useful idiots. They were their willing pawns.
If you “never supported” execution of homosexuals then you have done a passable impression of hinting about it.
I suggest you get down off that high horse before it crashes over a cliff.
Incidentally, I could as easily point out that this topic seems to be very near and dear to your heart as well. Might I ask why it is so? Might I ask why the citation about centuries-ago American practice? (IIRC the person quoted also owned slaves.)
If you are so sensitive to perceived “names,” then why are you naming me as “typical”? Isn’t that simply at best the pot calling the kettle (if not the refrigerator next to it) black? Think about the implications of your own language and what that reveals about your own mind. All this coyness about citing things that you then disclaim the applicability of has to speak to something in your own mind too.
Shoot, let’s make my reply a trifecta. Go Google up NIGYSOB. Then explain why what you’re attempting to do to me and some others is not precisely that. While I normally don’t put stock in pop psychology due to its oversimplifications, that term, which came to my attention the other day in a different context, seems to describe your game particularly well.
I agree. Uganda looks out for Uganda, and after looking at what has been done in Europe and the US by the homosexual lobby, they can respond to it however they wish. Besides, this is nowhere near as extreme as the Saudi law. Where are the homos outside the Saudi embassy? Oh, they’re not there.
