GOP U.S. Reps. Paul Ryan and Reid Ribble joined all three Dems in the state’s House delegation to support legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff.

Republicans Sean Duffy, Tom Petri and Jim Sensenbrenner voted against the deal, which passed the House 257-167.

Thanks. I truly respect Paul Ryan.

I believe him, and while not overjoyed with the bill that passed, I think his point of “divided government” is a good one.

Let’s regroup and do better in 2014 and 2016.

And your alternate recommendation that could stand the light of day is......???

I doubt anything at this point can stop the eventual collapse of the Federal government (meaning fiscal collapse)

Ryan and the others do not have the honesty to tell the truth to the American people.

The elitists of both parties should eventually bear the righteous wrath of the American people. It is disgusting how they kick the can down the road and give lip service to Liberty.

They are weak contemptible men.

I truly respect Paul Ryan.

I have little respect for Paul Ryan. He voted for No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, ethanol subsidies and other big government programs.

No true Conservative would ever cast such votes. We are long past giving respect for men and women who purposely without any remorse keep growing government.

Leaders? These people are very weak when it comes to our Constitution. Very few in Congress have the passion for Liberty and rugged individualism that our Founders expressed and held dear.

Do you want to know if Ryan is a Conservative? Have someone put a mic to his face and ask him if Government is a necessary evil

I have no doubt he would cringe at the word evil. Our Founders would not hesitate to describe how government must be chained down by the Constitution in order to prevent the evil of an all powerful government consuming the Liberties of it's citizens.

We are rushing on a path to tyranny and these fools think they are the best they can.

History will be brutal to the likes of Ryan, Boehner and the evil Left. They all deserve nothing but our contempt.

We should all be sad. And angry.

Define “caving”.

Caving = giving in = Republican

You’re sad.

LOL. I am content knowing that Liberty will arise once again across our Republic.

What's sad and pathetic is watching fools espousing the belief that these politician truly care about our Liberties.

What's sad are the fools who think the likes of Ryan and Boehner have any Conservative instincts.

I laugh heartily at such fools :)

Not what I meant. You didn’t address any of the statement Paul released. You just called him names.

Not a winning argument for you.

That is what I meant by “sad”.

That isn’t a definition, it is a synonym. I want a clear, unequivocal definition.

Wow. You’re really that obtuse? Someone with a history for posting on political discussion boards clearly should understand a simple request.

I’ll try again, perhaps I wasn’t clear in my post.

What, specifically in policy and legislative terms, would constitute a “cave” by the Republicans?

You didn’t address any of the statement Paul released. You just called him names.

Huh? Read some stupid statement that means absolutely nothing; it's just words. I see how they vote. That is how they should be judged.

Part of what I said was, He voted for No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, ethanol subsidies and other big government programs.

No true Conservative would ever cast such votes. We are long past giving respect for men and women who purposely without any remorse keep growing government.

Where did I call him names? I honestly described his votes and the type of man it would take to cast such votes.

Other than words, nothing Ryan has done shows me that he is a strong Conservative. Most of his "wonderful" "brilliant" budget proposals have the cuts occurring 10 years of so out. Do you realize how utterly insane that is? Does he honestly think his proposals will do anything to stop the crash?

At this point it is out of anyone's hands to stop the momentum towards insolvency. We can only hope Warrior type leaders arise during the collapse that will truly lead the effort to dismantle the Federal Leviathan.

What passes for leaders in D.C. today is a joke.

This was your request from post 49...

In post 50 I gave you the definition from Dictionary.com. I really see nothing "obtuse" about it. It should be clear.

Your reply has completely ignored the context in which we were discussing what “cave” meant.

Either you’re really unable to understand the concept of precision in language or you’re unwilling to discuss the subject on its merits.

This has got to be one of the most silliest conversation I have ever had on FR. Did you get a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking?

Let me ask you this; 1) do you think the Republicans will make substantial and meaningful budget cuts in exchange for raising the debt ceiling or 2) do you believe they will give this administration a raise in the debt ceiling in exchange for virtually nothing? If you chose door #2 then you will understand what “cave” means.

All I asked for was a workable definition of “cave”.

No, you gave synonyms and a cut and paste job. I asked for specific policy/legislative actions that would constitute a “cave”...and nothing specific was defined.

All I saw was something like “meaningful” reductions in spending or something similar.

Sometimes people avoid answering a question for specificity because they haven’t thought through the issue. But unless we know specifically what constitutes a “cave”, we can’t determine whether a negotiation is a success.

Hope you can see what I’m saying.
