Inmates Sue Beer, Wine Cos. for $1B
ABC NEWS ^

Five Idaho inmates are blaming alcohol for the crimes that put them in prison and are suing some of the nation's top liquor and wine companies for $1 billion.

Keith Allen Brown, Steven Thompson, Woodrow Grant, Cory Baugh and Jeremy Brown all claim that alcohol led them to their crimes and they should have been warned of the beverages' addictive nature.

"If I was not an alcoholic, the shooting would never have happened," Jeremy Brown said in his affidavit. Brown, 34, is serving a 20- to 30-year sentence for a 2001 shooting that seriously injured a man.

The plaintiffs' crimes range from manslaughter to grand theft. They are currently serving time at Idaho's Kuna facility.

What’s the point in running a site like The Onion when stories like this are being reported as straight news.

Oh puleeze.

But I have to admit it is a creative idea, lol.

I guess 99 per cent of the incarcerated in all the prisons in the US could do the same. Or they could sue their drug dealer.

So if someone were to assassinate O then they could pin the blame for their actions of alcohol manufacturers?
How about smoking pot in CA?

This is not new, Jesse Jackson has been shaking down americas businesses for a generation..

Pretty smart of them.. They watched as Barry Obama shook down America for four years (made millions) and America sent him back to shake the tree again..

Criminals are pretty smart in a thieving sort of way..
Like a non disabled thirty year old person applies for and gets disability for life.. and works for more under ground to steal some more in a thousand ways.. Millions are doing that right now LEGALLY.. Except for the ..OLD PEOPLE.. Social Security(disability) is a license to STEAL..

And I haven’t talked of Medicare scams yet.. and a thousand other Federal Boondoggles.. maybe much more..

Big Tobacco, the Firearms Industry, and now the Alcohol Industry. I wonder at what point the pro-litigation left will recognize that they are hurting ordinary people - themselves - with their support for frivolous lawsuits.

geeeez just put these guys in the spidey hole and leave them there. Being an alcoholic doesn’t remove one’s responsibility for their own actions. These yahoos are of the hopeless variety

You forget that the left are not humanitarian in the same context as conservatives. While they claim they want socialism (redistribution of wealth for all) what they really mean is they want “their” cut. When a conservative is being humanitarian it is to help out another human out of empathy or sympathy. The left do not have that same emotional connect and generally seem to be sociopathic.

It’s about time, I’m all for it.........Alcohol has destroyed more lives and families than tobacco ever could so it’s only fair to go after drinkers now.

Sounds like for safety’s sake we’re all going to have to be institutionalized—except maybe we already are.

Why didn’t they sue God for giving them the air to breathe while getting drunk. After all, if they didn’t have air to breathe they would not have gotten drunk.

They could just use Ted Kennedy as an example. Good old Ted has been sober for over 3 years now and hasn't drowned anybody during that period.......that anybody knows of.

The far left's leaders are at best as you describe, and in the case of Obama and Pelosi they are genuinely evil. As you say, many rank and file followers are just in it for the free loot, but a lot of them believe that leftism is good for regular people. If anything good comes from these eight years under Obama, it will be finally convincing these low-information voters that freedom and the rule of law are more important than an ObamaPhone, ObamaCare, and "free" birth control.
