Feinstein's New Gun-Ban Bill Likely to be Introduced January 22

Contact your members of Congress and urge them to oppose any "assault weapon" or magazine ban

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)--author of the federal "assault weapon" and "large" ammunition magazine ban of 1994-2004--has said for weeks that she will soon introduce an even more restrictive bill. Leaders in the U.S. Senate have stated that January 22 will be the first day on which new Senate legislation can be proposed, so that is the most likely date for the new, sweeping legislation to be introduced.

On Dec. 17th, Feinstein said, "I have been working with my staff for over a year on this legislation" and "It will be carefully focused." Indicating the depth of her research on the issue, she said on Dec. 21st that she had personally looked at pictures of guns in 1993, and again in 2012.

According to a Dec. 27th posting on Sen. Feinstein's website and a draft of the bill obtained by NRA-ILA, the new ban would, among other things, adopt new definitions of "assault weapon" that would affect a much larger variety of firearms, require current owners of such firearms to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act, and require forfeiture of the firearms upon the deaths of their current owners. Some of the changes in Feinstein's new bill are as follows:

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Fienstien, the news media.

What is the common denominator here? they are all democrats.

democrats want to make the government all powerful and at the same time take every one of our individual rights and freedom. Democrats want the government to own everything ( that's called socialism).Everything democrats do is to empower government and at the same time dis-empower the individual. the individual is small and already powerless and the government is so huge and powerful and idiot democrats think the government needs to be made bigger and more powerful. wtf is wrong with these idiots?

When will we realize that the threat to our freedom and survival is the democrat party?

Will that be enough time for gun owners to go back to sleep? Maybe most, but not me, and I suspect most FReeper gun owners will still be on the case, too.

If we can't defeat this, the DAY Obama signs this tyranny has to be the first day of the civil war. This MUST be the line, not in the sand, but etched in the rock. Here, and no farther.

If you are not a member of the NRA, you need to join today. Sign up your wife, children. There is strength in numbers

OK.

I let my membership lapse last year, and I just re-upped for five years. I get it.

Can you tell me how to stop the telemarketers? This is the ONLY organization that I belong to that abuses me and my household with phone calls, and they do it a lot.

Joining NRA and GOAL.

Now my question, and forgive me if it’s dumb, but I ran out of coffee.
Bills are introduced in the House, then to Senate, then either back to house for reconciliation or to a President who signs or vetoes.

How can this fat hog introduce a bill?

Interesting article, also questions what McCain will do

WHETHER THE SEMI-AUTOMATIC BAN PASSES MAY DEPEND ON WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SENATE RULES

Any spending bills must originate in the House.....others can originate from the senate.

require current owners of such firearms to register them with the federal government under the National Firearms Act

Good luck with that. Canada tried mandatory registration of long-guns, and it was a complete and total failure.

The Canadian Firearms Registry was part of the Firearms Act. The registration portion of the Firearms Act was implemented in 1995.(1)

The net annual operating cost of the program was originally estimated to be $2 million. Its' reported cost for the 2010-2011 fiscal year was $66.4 million.(2)

The majority of Canadians refused to register their rifles. Ultimately, less than 30% of the long-guns in Canada were ever registered.(3)

In 2012, the Canadian government passed legislation, which repealed the requirement for registration of long-guns.

(3) LUFA: Licencing and Registration Non-Compliance

Even liberals in the Canadian government admit the long-gun registry was a dismal failure, including the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau:

Trudeau calls long-gun registry 'a failure'
"But there are better ways of keeping us safe than that registry which is, has been removed," Trudeau said.

To slightly mis-use Mark Levin’s summary quote about the Bill of Rights, and apply it specifically to the Second Amendment:

“This is not theirs to take or discard. This is your property. This is your heritage. This is your protection.”

If they let them confiscate our guns, we will deserve it when they kill us.

The NRA board will vote to compromise and we’ll end up with some liberty restricting gun control bill with NRA approval.

I find it interesting that back in 1970 the anti-handgun media decided that the Miller Decision from the Supreme Court did not protect handguns but did protect military type rifles.

It was written into many TV scripts at the time.

Now all guns are up for grabs.

Canada is less likly to kill non compliant gun ownere than the US is. If this passes, they will look for a test case. Then they will use massive force, up to drone attacks, against that person or group.

Most will comply then.

So once again, jettison all other positions for “fiscal” concerns that not one congressmen in 10 supports and not one voter in a 100 understands.

It is to late for that. The GOP has never been interested in shrinking the debt. Cutting programs doesn’t win votes.

Incorrect. Compliance to unjust law is impossible and immoral.

I would like to think that in the military there is a higher percentage of personnel both in command and enlisted that feel like I do and would refuse to follow orders to shoot and disarm Americans.

Yep. It will go straight to committee where it will be allowed to die. Harry Reid will never bring this POS to the floor of the Senate to be voted on. He wants to get re-elected and so do all the other Dems.
