Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has barely taken his oath of office as a United States Senator and he is already making news. He has a Washington Post op-ed in which he reiterates his "opportunity conservatism" approach to governance.

The first bill he will file will be to repeal Obamacare. This and a combative stance on guns and fiscal policy have gotten the notice of the media.

It starts with the Bushes. “Compassionate Conservatism” you know. NCLB, the idea that an infinite amount of money to the schools can make up for the lack of fathers. etc. Just read the Dallas Morning News to see how Highland Park/University is thinking .

I hope Texas is not falling prey to that lefty crap too. It’s the only large state left that hasn’t fallen to their destructive wave.

I have some friends in Texas that know Cruz personally. They tell me he is the real deal.

I will continue to hope they are correct.

Ever shot a 9mm Uzi full auto? I have, a silenced one at that. It had little recoil and was so well balanced that there was no climb at all.

Our command track at the time had some OLD STUFF assigned to it ~ this was the unit with the super duper international radio communication capability (fun to mess with) so access was all. There was an UZI there, and an old WWII greasegun (as they were called). Plus, in battle array we had quad 50s.

We didn't fire the Uzi but we did break it down and put it back together ~ no idea how old the item was but it was definitely early.

My understanding of it was that with the back door down it could be held and fired door center and there would be rounds filling the door opening ~ so that was your first line of personal defense if you were supposed to be in there.

Never tried it. This was in Germany ~ that was Track 47 of the 115 ~ same number and style used for the lead track in Desert Storm ~ remember the tank rolling across the desert. That was an Infantry command track carrying the camera, and every now and then the tank would take turns as the picture taker.

That was a rush for me ~ imagine what it was like for the guys on the scene that day.

BTW, all tracked vehicles typical of the 60s were decommissioned, stripped down, refurbed and had whole new engine packs mounted inside, and whole new chassis and drive train stuffed in and around.

Ain't nothin' in the world beats being TC on the Autobahn ~

My understanding of the Uzi design is that it's users were going to be mostly urban Jewish guys who'd never been allowed access to arms, and couldn't be depended on to hit a target so the weapon had to do that work for them.

Low recoil also made it suitible for use by women and children, as need be, and Fur Shur Jewish weapons designers knew what "need be" could and would mean.

More modern versions don't throw up that protective blanket of bullets and, I've heard, can actually be aimed!

Two firearms I think were inspired by God were the earliest Uzis and the flechette guns ~ designed during the Nam but abandoned as maybe inhumane (turn your enemy to deboned hamburger in 10 round bursts).

Hope he is strong willed enough to keep standing tall, Mitch McConnell is probably already thinking of ways to put the screws to him.

The ‘Rats will be gunning for him ala Tom DeLay. He needs someone to ride shotgun in the Sin-ate with him to pick off the ‘Rat interlopers.

Those are men, not 12 year old girls. Still, even with ye olde bumpfire 6 you still see the need to pull down when firing auto ~ and on one session where he did a burst of 7 (who would do that?) it pulled him to the right ~ hmmm.

That does reduce the problem a bit ~ but that's not an M60 either.

I’m a big fan of rapid controlled precision fire. It doesn’t matter if you’re facing a couple hoods on the staircase at home with a 1911, or if the lion is coming fast and you have to get another shot off from your Lott. Anything that reduces the amount of time it takes to get back on target should be considered.

For hunting rifles I like the designs of the English gunsmiths of the post WW I era, so any muzzle device would be considered sacrilege. I may have to noodle the trade-offs on a Gibbs. Something that reduces or eliminates muzzle rise - I wouldn’t think twice on a mouse gun.

Thanks ~ absolutely correct ~ irrespective of the inherent limits to the speed with which a firearm can be fired, the real issue is how fast can it be brought back to aim and fire at the target.

Leftwingtards imagine that 'spraying bullets' is the whole purpose of a firearm ~ which I suppose is the story passed around in the teacher's union members in New York City as they recount what their uncles and grandfathers in the IDF told them about using early Uzis.

Fortunately for the IDF better training was to come, along with better firearms also designed to be brought on target!
