Why push for gun control has stalled
nypost.com ^ | 6 January, 2013 | STEPHEN L. CARTER

Support for stricter gun laws hasn’t jumped as fast or as far in recent weeks as many liberals had hoped and expected. If you’re wondering why, maybe the reason is the shakiness of the public’s trust in government itself.

Some DOJ, BJS Statistics:

Why is the 8.0% the only concern?

Where is the concern for the 72.9%?

I think the media is backing off because they were stirring up pro-RKBA forces.

By keeping quiet while the states and dozens of Federal agencies plus Congress lay their plans without their every move being watched and their phones ringing all day.

The democrats want us disarmed so that

instead of the 2 .5 million home invasions it is 10 million home invasions per year in America. compare that to the less than 100 killed in mass shootings per year. the media uses the fluke, the statistically nonexistent to make it seem like it happens all the time . what happens is burglaries, rapes(many not with guns), assaults by the hundreds of thousands per year each

instead of 400,000 women raped per year it is million
s

instead of hundreds of thousands of children, raped ,murdered and tortured per year it is millions.

compare that to the non-existant less than 100 killed mass shootings

40,000 Americans die in car accidents etc

but the main reasons democrats want to take away our gun rights is to empower government, make us slaves of the government, take away our individual rights and so that we can't defend against a tyrannical government.

they thought Øbongo would simply wave his hand and it would be the law of the land.

So did Obongo.

“Trust us, we’ll protect you,” isn’t a very persuasive case to make to the tens of millions of Americans who have guns in their homes. And directing fury at gun owners for their lack of trust isn’t likely to increase their faith in government.

Trust communists and congenital liars? Suuuuure, I will!

“One plausible explanation is a lack of trust in the people who would be doing the regulating.”

Sorry, but someone who even hints this might be possible fundamentally fails to understand the purpose of the Second Amendment nor the relationship between the citizen and the federal government.

The Second is not to be traded for assurances that our overlord will respect our liberties after we give up the means to overthrow them. They made that mistake in Cambodia, and the Worker’s Paradise, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and the Jews did not fare very well under National Socialism if I recall correctly.

(I had the honor of knowing a Jew who had escaped from a concentration camp in southern Germany and spent the remainder of the war in Switzerland. He was kind enough to show me the prisoner number tattoo on his arm. I know the spirit that put them there. That same spirit is in some of the people in power today.)

It’s about control. We support control of our own destiny. Those who take that away are an enemy that must be stopped. Fired at a minimum.

But they just want to keep you safe in your chains and cells.

We permitted them to search without a warrant at the airports and they progressed to sexually molest, threaten and harass us with that power. They use the power of the patriot act to spy on us and to classify their political and social enemies and Vets as “domestic terrorists.”

The ATF is a criminal organization that should be abolished - not given more power to kill and abuse Americans.

Professor Carter hits it out of the park. If the government in Sandy Hook which responded admirably, was unable to stop the drug-addled Lanza kid because they were four minutes away. Why should we think that the government in Washington could protect us when they are eight hours away from Sandy Hook?

When I was about 7-years old (1959), I noticed that our neighbor lady had numbers written on one of her wrists.

I had noticed it when she hung wash on the line.

I asked my mom about it and that is how I came to know about tyrants and mass murder. She was Belgian, and after WWII had made her way back from eastern Europe to her home country, where she met and married an American soldier. She told my mother that her whole family had been murdered.

We had a new family doctor that wanted to know if we had any guns in the house. Seems some physicians are on an anti-firearm anti-freedom kick. Even though we didn’t own any firearms we told him it was none his d@mn business as we left.
