Why push for gun control has stalled
nypost.com ^ | 6 January, 2013 | STEPHEN L. CARTER

Support for stricter gun laws hasn’t jumped as fast or as far in recent weeks as many liberals had hoped and expected. If you’re wondering why, maybe the reason is the shakiness of the public’s trust in government itself.

The public does not trust a government that repeatedly lies to them? A government that bailes on its allies and appologizes to its foes? A government that does not respect the Constitution and the rule of law? A government that deliberately refuses to pass a budget?

How can this be? In the progressive/regressive liberal mind, government is god.

While the gov’t and gun grabbers (the chattering class) are screaming for more gun control, the public at large is out buying guns in the biggest buying frenzey we’ve ever seen. Over 16 million additional guns have been added in the last 4 years. Seems to be a real disconnect here.

They are just beginning to get the message that we finally realize that we are turning into a communists dictatorship and we will end it sooner that they realize. Armed and ready.

The liberal mentality, although promoted by an obnoxious and vocal crowd, remains a minority amongst the broader population. Any attempt by the liberals in power to shove gun control down the throats of the American public would turn out the masses that the Republican party has not been able to inspire to the voting booths. This would bring about a revolution, and we would win this battle - hands down.

Why I don’t doubt Obama’s desire to grab our gun, I think a lot of this bluster is Obama’s desire to distract the public from his lousy economy.

I think that there’s a certain segment of the left that is so absorbed with “instant gratification” that they thought Øbongo would simply wave his hand and it would be the law of the land.

Perhaps it is because the last time gun control was on a roll in the 1990s it ran smack dab into 19 moslem hijackers armed with boxcutters.

Suddenly all those people against guns realized they just might need one after all.

I would rephrase the question. Is it that the public does not trust the government, or that the public is actually afraid of their government, and is unwilling to support even more power grabs by it?

October 13, 2010 - (Gallup) 59% percent of American voters say government has too much power. 8% too little power. They also noted that from 2003 to 2010, the number who believed government had too little power only varied from 6% to 8%.

July 16, 2012 - About 66% of American voters say government has too much power in the United States, according to a Rasmussen Poll released Monday. (Only 8% believe the government is too small.)

The clear trend is *not* a lack of trust in government. Fear is the issue. About two-thirds of Americans are afraid of their government, because it has too much power.

How can you trust someone obsessed with gaining more and more power over your life?

And the smaller paychecks that everyone will be seeing soon.

Obama promised. Wait until Obamacare kicks in and costs are passed to consumers.

Distract?

Certainly, from the evil blood trails from Fast & Furious, Benghazi and the betrayal of all quasi-allies we had in the Middle East.

If the right powers that be want Obozo removed, there is certainly enough there to get it done. Problem is, the Globalist B_tards want everything he wants. They want the U.S. destroyed and capitalism with it. They prefer Fascism with the winners determined by government connections.

Obozos a Liar and he serves the father-of-lies.

FUBO! and your “masters”.

My doctor always gently chided me for my interest in guns.
Until 9/11.
Then he asked what to get.

Grabbers threaten to ban standard capacity magazines and modern sporting rifles, and the public responds with the single largest stampede on guns and magazines this country has ever seen.

Hopefully some of these panic buyers are also voters...

Well, if we are discussing fantasies, here's mine:

Zero does go forward with gun control. One hell of a fight ensues. Spurred on by an overwhelming ground swell of outrage, the Republicans suddenly find their spines and their ‘attachments’, and stop zero in his tracks.

Spurred by this victory, they go forward with real budget cuts, and engage and defeat zero on on other issues as well.

Well, I did say fantasies didn't I?
