White House may consider funding for police in schools after Newtown

By Philip Rucker, Published: January 10

The Obama administration is considering funding many more police officers in public schools to secure campuses, a leading Democratic senator said, part of a broad gun violence agenda that is likely to include a ban on high-capacity ammunition clips and universal background checks.

The school safety initiative, one of several under consideration, would make federal dollars available to schools that want to hire police officers and install surveillance equipment, although it is not nearly as far-ranging as the National Rifle Association’s proposal for armed guards in every U.S. school.

The idea is gaining currency among some Democratic lawmakers, who see it as a potential area of common ground with Republicans who otherwise oppose stricter restrictions on firearms. Sen. Barbara Boxer, a liberal Democrat from California, said she presented the plan to Vice President Biden and that he was “very, very interested” and may include it in the policy recommendations he makes to President Obama.

“If a school district wants to have a community policing presence, I think it’s very important they have it,” Boxer said in an interview Thursday. “If they want uniformed officers, they can do it. If they want plainclothed officers, they can do it.”

if the senate is even considering this means:
they’ll fall under DHS,
be unionized,
be exempt from Obamacare,
get gun/ammo contracts from Obama supporters all in IL.

Where are they going to get the funding for that? Just asking . . . kinda’ think I know the answer. A new cabinet level department with a chubby budget perhaps?

The States should use a two week rotation of National Guard Officers.
Two per School.
Of course the LibTards will scream about the "Militarization of Our Schools",
so perhaps a less Military uniform would be appropriate.

Apparently, there are 10,000 armed guards in schools at this time. Of course the mediots and the lefties in charge of our country don’t want this blatant discrimination against kids in unarmed schools out in the open.

Every elite left winger should be challenged to remove the armed guards from the schools their children attend, have no armed guards where they meet in legislative sessions to destroy our constitution, have no personal armed guards/chauffers and surrender any C&C permits and guns they have before enacting new anti second ammendment laws.

Almost makes it sound as though they are capitulating to the NRA until one thinks about the control that goes with Fed funding.

Such a move would further secure the power of the Fed.

This is how Obama will get gun control. Give the NRA what they suggested (armed guards, but include it in an authorization to ban assault weapons and high capacity mags. They’ll say they are being reasonable.

Wonder what they’ll do with all those “Gun-Free Zone” signs after they’re taken down?

Wow, proves the campaign against the forces of darkness is making headway ~ they're no longer telling us the little children are better off out in the open without protection cowering in a corner for the mad dog killer to come and murder them.

That, my friend, is REAL PROGRESS with that bunch of demons from hell.

Now, about the other part they propose ~ restrictions on 'high capacity clips' ~ bwahahahaha ~ only holds 3 at preent, so they want to go to 2? ~ and then some other stuff.

Here's where we stiff the Professional Leftwingtards ~ we amend their other garbage out, but prohibit private schools of any kind from having armed guards! So, public schools get armed guards with federal assistance, but the private schools where their kids go to school, get stripped back ~ bet that'd make the old Occupy crowd excited.

NOTE: I know that'd never get out of a House Committee but let's make the leftwingtards argue the case! Should get some fiery briefs against class warfare Fur Shur.

The Feds should just kick it to the states to implement and fund however they see fit.

If it falls under DHS, it’ll become a giant bloated pig costing $150k per guard just for salary.

Yup, you’re right.

This kind of thing should NOT be “federalized” — it’s just one more step towards the cliff of “control”.

If this is to be endorsed by the federal government, it should be in the form of block grants to states, after which the states could direct the funds to local school jurisdictions as they (the states) see fit. Whether to put police on duty on school properties, or offer training to in-school personnel, should be a matter of local policy decisions.

The notion of increasing security in local schools should remain a LOCAL issue and responsibility. It will be handled better that way, and the funds required will be spent more wisely, at least one would hope.

But more importantly, the -control- of such policies would remain in the hands of local officials, directly responsible to the communities they serve.

BS!
Keep the Feds out of this, should be a state matter and even down to the county and school board level.

There are ObamaKKKare death panels with sufficient funding to pay for all the guards we'd ever need. Just tap the funds.

Make the leftwingtards squeal like pigs ~ and re-argue, in public, all the stupid stuff they stuffed into ObamaKKKare!

Ya' know . . . I didn't think we needed anything more than the 2nd Amendment that we already have.

Any adult in that school should have the 2nd Amendment right to be armed. We need the feds to do that for us?

Dammit, when are they going to leave us alone?

Wrong, it will be like Clinton's 100,000 cops.

Grant money to school systems to pay for the cops. Our school system has SRO’s at the schools already. We'll get the grant money to fund the cops - but it will be spent elsewhere.

Like the “100,000 cops” program school systems without SROs will use the grants to hire them. When the grants run out the school system will have to fire them or raise taxes to pay for them.

Our county hired touchy feely folks with the cops money and when it ran out they went away. Some of the other counties around here hired beat cops - and the crying and hand wringing was intense when the money ended.

Once this “protection” is in place they’ll threaten to remove it unless taxes are increased. “Republicans want to kill your children” will be the war cry.
