America, Prepare For A Century Of Drought

Corn and wheat prices surged today. The immediate reason appeared to be the year-end USDA report, that showed supplies were lower than projected.
But concurrent with that report was the release of the Commerce Department's National Climate Assessment Development Advisory Committee National Climate Assessment survey.
One of the findings: we can expect up to a century of drought.
Here's a chart from the report projecting percent of the country in drought conditions in the coming years.

The red line is based on observed temperature and precipitation. The blue line is from the average of 19 different climate models. The gray lines in the background are individual results from over 70 different simulations from these models.
The projections are derived from the Palmer Drought Severity Index, one of the most widely used measure of drought, the report says.
"These results suggest an increasing probability of drought over this century throughout most of the U.S.," the committee says. "Droughts have become more frequent and intense in some regions, and confidence is that these trends are projected to continue."

BI is marxist crap, but I appreciate your posting it so we can pick it apart. Normally in this type of propaganda they at least make an attempt to force the statistics (blue line) to lie about the past (red line). But I see their blue line can’t get out of bed in the 1930’s to “predict” the drought that happened 7 decades ago. There is no upward trend in drought despite many megatonnes of CO2 and a modest amount of warming that it causes. OTOH, there is La Nina (strong in the 30’s, early 50’s and again recently that causes drought in North America. La Nina is not a result of “global warming” nor will it be.
Lord I hope not, the last 5 years of Texas have been brutal, the last 2 in particular.

There is plenty of water in the oceans and it can be distilled and transported to regional water distribution systems both in the US and, say, Africa, if we want to do so.
I know a little about plumbing, i.e. pipes and waters systems, having once been in the business as a wholesaler, and for the past 20 years involved in environmental affairs.
American technology, plus Israeli technology, could make a significant part of the US and Africa bloom with food crops, export crops, and animal preserves to save their endangered species. It is all a matter of intelligence, planner, foresight, and leadership.
We have the technology, but definitely lack leadership. AL GORE is not leadership, he’s a one man environmental menace.
Running out of beer on a Saturday night is not a drought.
