The Case for Self-Defense After a Massacre: A Look at the Luby's Massacre
Townhall ^ | Jan 08, 2013 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 01/13/2013 5:46:26 PM PST by george76

In 1991, a man named George Hennard drove his truck through the front of a Luby's Cafateria in Killeen, Texas. It wasn't an accident. He hadn't lost control of his vehicle but instead was there to kill. After crashing into the restaurant, Hennard jumped out and started killing as many people as he could.

Dr. Suzanna Gratia was there that day eating lunch with her parents. At the time, it was a felony in the state of Texas to carry a firearm inside a purse and Gratia left her gun in the car. Al Gratia, her father, attempted to rush the Hennard but was shot in the chest. She tried to escape through a back window while Hennard stalked his defenseless victims inside the building as they desperately tried to get away with their lives. Her father was killed and her mother was shot in the head while holding her dying husband of 47 years.

The following video is of congressional testimony Gratia gave 20 years ago. It is important to point out New York Senator Chuck Schumer was there, listening with an arrogant, bored and disrespectful look on his face. Although many lives have been saved as a result of people having the ability to properly defend themselves with firearms in public places since the Luby's massacre, Schumer is still pushing for people like Gratia's parents to become victims of violent crime today by pushing for more gun control and less self defense.

Schumer was upset that she wasn’t dead.

Schumer is Marxist scum who will eventually pay for his mendacity in Hell. Whether or not he believes that is irrelevant to that reality.

I know.
He ran on the Socialist Worker Party ticket here a few years back.
Then had his name pulled from their ticket when it became a liability.
I suspect that with media fawning he may put his name back on it ‘proudly’.

Schumer IGNORES anything that doesn’t meet his political agenda .
He is a ‘photo-Ho’ narcissist who lives to see himself in News headlines , always accompanied by a photo .

We are talking about Chuck Shumer, right? Senior Senator from New York? Not that I disbelieve this, but I would have thought it would have made a bigger splash. Is there any way you can cite the site you got that from for confirmation?

Thanks.

It’s fascinating why people fall for such jokesters. Part of the fault may be a lack of worthy opponents, but not all.

For the same reason cockroaches congregate.

this is powerful; seems to need a banglist ping.

schumer is lower than scum. this reminds me of ill. state sen obama voting 'present' to 'born alive' legislation after hearing testimony from a quite-alive and in his face Gianna Jessen, an abortion survivor.

Some cafeterias in the southwest have armed guards, maybe to look safer after the Luby’s debacle. Well, also because they still have the pay on exit system, and they might have to shoot ticket walkers JUST KIDDING

I was at a gun rights rally in Houston where I heard Suzanna Gratia speak, as well as the police chief of Killeen, Tx. This was just after Ann Richards vetoed the Texas Legislature passing a bill to place the licensed concealed carry resolution on the ballot.

It is sad when guns in the hands of good people stopping further bloodshed does not make the news. But then again, it does not fit the agenda.

Hard to believe its been this many years. I was in a business meeting in Killeen, meet a very nice man. A few weeks later, I was shocked to see his picture in the paper as one of the victims. May God Bless the innocent.

And that would result in more calls for gun restrictions a la Gabby Giffords. Communists feed off the emotional fallout from crazed lunatics killing people. They don’t seem to care a lot about inner city gun crime. You don’t see Obama holding a vigil for all the dead children of the Chicago slums. The pictures on CNN that would come from that would draw attention to illegal gun owners and what they do with guns.
