Adam Jentleson, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, also said the Republican approach was reassuring.

"If the House can pass a clean debt ceiling increase to avoid default and allow the United States to meet its existing obligations, we will be happy to consider it," he said in a statement.

Where do we pick a fight? We have refused to do so for two full years now, and still gotten beaten in public opinion. Our crew in DC is an embarrassment.

The US has the money to pay its debts, its interest payments. What a load of crap! If Republicans cave, just add another nail to their coffin.

Most of these cowardly Republicans must think that they will be reelected in 2014 just because they are the incumbent. That only applies to Democrats, but Republicans can be easily led astray. It’s all about careerism.

This is very simple,

Republicans were going to lose again by getting blamed and so would cave at the end anyway, but it would be much worse later and they would be hated by everyone for it, and gain nothing.

Best to move on now rather than just give libs another Christmas,

Try picking battles they can win for a change.

Now if the gov’t shuts down it will be because the Dems in the Senate didn’t pass a budget.

Seriesly? The truth is what the media says it is. And there is no reason to hope that the Republicans will ever stand up against the Democrats.

But we HAVE to support them!!! Otherwise Reid will skip off with no budget again!!!

Oh wait...

People continuing to empower the GOP get exactly what they deserve. I don’t know how many times the GOP has to rub their noses in it. I guess next time will be different. Perhaps after they give away the 2A they will get tough.

The Republicans new strategy might be incremental caves, little now, little one later, another little cave at the end.
Still a big cave, same results, but done in baby steps.

Smart move.

The rats won’t have an opportunity to convince the ignorant chattering class that the Republicans are vindictive sore losers, and the fossilized undertaker Reid will be forced to finally DO something, ie., pass the first budget from the senate in four years. Plus, the African communist will have three months to wonder what the Republicans are up to.

I like this. Finally, a genuine strategy is emerging.

"The plan aims to draw the Senate into action to shrink deficits. The Senate has failed to pass a formal budget resolution in nearly four years, and it has taken no action on House-passed Republican budgets.

Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate's Republican minority leader, said in a statement he welcomed the pressure on his Democratic counterparts who had "prevented this body from performing its most basic of duties: passing a federal budget."

So the key here will be to have Ryan front and center reciting the number of times (and the vote counts as well) that the GOP passed budget bills in the past two years, then recount the corresponding votes in the Senate to defeat those House budget bills.

"Mr. and Mrs. America have a yearly household budget. They have reduced spending to stave off insolvency. Why can't the White House do the same?"

I thought these men and women were well educated.

There is a HUGE difference in being educated and having "balls."

Most current politicians are members of the METROSEXUAL club.

They check their gonads at the door.

The business and money people who fund the GOP candidates, the RNC, the SuperPAC’s etc. want to maintain “stability” and deny reality by forcing the politicians to keep band-aiding the debt train that’s heading for the cliff.

And the GOP-E is going right along by caving on tax increases, now the debt ceiling increase with more caves to come in the future.

Forget the spin, there are no fights in the GOP future other than fake ones generated by GOP-E media (talk show hosts, Fox News, etc.).
