Japan Threatens To Fire On Chinese Fighters China Says 'There Will Be No Second Shot'

When Chinese and Japanese fighters met for the first time over disputed islands in the East China Sea earlier this month, Japan promptly declared its right to fire tracers at China's jets.
Though met with outrage by China at the time, Japan continues promoting the live firing which Chinese military academics are calling the "first shot."
Every country has procedures for how to deal with a violation of its territory that continues after multiple cautionary measures, Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said Wednesday when asked if tracer shots would be fired against intruding aircraft that refuse to change course. We have response measures ready that are consistent with global standards.
If Japan is using the talk of tracer fire to gauge Chinese reaction, the tactic worked.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Sunday his country is on "high alert" and that Japan and the U.S. are ignoring the fact that "the islands are Chinas inherent territory."
Never to be left out, Chinese military academics quoted in Beijing's state-run media provided far more fiery replies:
Japans desire to fire tracer warning shots as a way of frightening the Chinese is nothing but a joke that shows the stupidity, cruelty and failure to understand their own limitations, Maj. Gen. Peng Guangqian of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences was quoted saying by the China News Service and other state media.
Firing tracer bullets is a type of provocation; its firing the first shot, he said. Were Japan to dare to fire tracers, which is to say fire the first shot, then China wouldnt stint on responding and not allow them to fire the second shot.

A careful study by some US Naval War College authors, including information from an internal Japanese study leaked by the Japanese press, is that it would take 3-5 years for the Japanese to develop a usable nuclear warhead.
To me, the firing of a tracer is like the proverbial "shot across the bow." It means that the person firing the shot wants the other person to know that the round was real and if it were meant to hit, it would have.
If a war breaks out, I don’t see that helping their economy. They depend on exports. Initiating action against Japan would kill their exports to Japan and the US among others. It would be economic suicide.
Mothra !!!! /S
Wouldn’t that be a great sketch on SNL?
Half the time that weapon is used on Japan itself though.
I saw something about that - more than 10 years go. I’m reasonably sure the Japanese have one by now. So are a number of other experts.
Not sure what you are saying here. The U.S. certainly "messed" with the Japs after they attacked us on Dec. 7, 1941 and the emperor's representative was present on the deck of the Missouri to sign the surrender papers. I would call that messing with them and getting away with it.
Obama offers to hold a beer summit, can’t we all just get along?
I'm afraid beer won't cut it. They need a saki/biajiu summit.
6. Buying a couple of our Ohio Class subs would also work. Better we sell them to Japan then give them to China.
You might be pretty close to the truth. I read on another site that there are 30,000,000 to 40,000 ,000 more men in the 20 - 40 year old range than there are women, owing to the one child edict. Girl babies are either aborted or killed. That leaves the guys with an unsatisfied testosterone problem. The theory is that China will initiate a war using these guys as cannon fodder. Not looking good. sd
That’s because we never woke Godzilla
Im leaning toward supporting China on tis one. Both are difficult to belieeve and always have a hidden agenda - but after working for the Japanese - ill support China.
But when was that study made?
They spent years in China from circa 1932 to 1945 and failed to conqueror her as well.
Wow! Barry can paint some wood shelving. Good for him, glad he found something he can do.
He sure makes a piss-poor president.
bobo
Hold your cards folks, I think we have a BINGO!
I hear so much stuff about how great the China economy is. The economies of all the big players of the world are built on a house of cards. When one of these players collapses, the rest are soon to follow, including China.
