If I’m following this correctly, according to one spokesperson for the Marine Corps Band, at Monday’s inauguration Beyoncé lip-synced to the national anthem but the band accompanied her live. However, according to a second spokesperson, it was the band who were pretending to play to a pre-recorded tape while Beyoncé sang along live. So one or other of them were faking it. Or maybe both were. Or neither. I’d ask Chuck Schumer, the master of ceremonies, who was standing right behind her, but he spent the entire performance staring at her butt. If it was her butt, that is. It might just have been the bulge of the Radio Shack cassette player she was miming to. In an America with an ever more tenuous grip on reality, there’s so little to be sure of.
Whether Beyoncé was lip-syncing to the band or the band were lip-syncing to Beyoncé is like one of those red pill/ blue pill choices from The Matrix. Was President Obama lip-syncing to the Founders, rooting his inaugural address in the earliest expressions of American identity? (“The patriots of 1776 . . . gave to us a republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.”) Or maybe the Founders were lip-syncing to him as he appropriated the vision of the first generation of Americans and yoked it (“preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action”) to a statist pitch they would have found utterly repugnant...

We have a former inmate who has turned himself around and is now selling art on the side to support himself instead of doing what got him in trouble in the first place. While he was inside he was able to produce a fair amount of it. He’s pretty good, he’s reasonable because he doesn’t have the ego problems typical of some artists and isn’t full of himself, and we have sold a three of his paintings so far.
Great Steyn! But it’s one of the most depressing commentaries I have read, or at any rate, its subject is. When Hillary made her breathtakingly callous and arrogant remark, I was sure that the Administraton had finally gone too far. But within ten minutes,I learned that it was being triumphantly tweeted around the world by the media as being the best defense ever, a courageous and devastating response to the petty minds of those who would question this regime, and the ringing final statement on the matter.
Steyn’s right. What does reality matter to this regime? We’re all being forced to live in the delusional world inside our dictator’s head.
I don’t know what can free us.

There is no action, no depravity, no ‘negligence,’ no evil act this Administration will not take, command, or hire as a result of whispered commands in sound-proofed, untraceable, coded conversations. None.
Which is what? That your "action" is more powerful than Steyn's words? Maybe it is since I have no idea and you won't tell me. But the pen is (mostly) mightier than the sword. Maybe your case is one of the rare exceptions. Also civil disobedience isn't worth anything if it isn't public. Maybe yours is, I have no idea. But I think it's more likely that you have no point.

The idea around which “liberalism” coheres is that nothing actually matters except PR - and our journalists presume that they have all the divisions there can possibly be in a PR battle. But that will only matter so much when the shelves are bare and the gas stations have no fuel for sale - and we can’t get electricity or heating fuel in the wintertime.

What difference does it make that our vaunted Free Press only speaks for the government – and does so willingly without duress?
What difference does it make if our front line offensive units – the finest Infantry * ever to march the Earth – are now feminized and neutralized and defeated piecemeal in battle wherever they are sent?
What difference does it make if in all-male barracks in China (Red China) and Russia and North Korea, in Iran and Venezuela and Cuba tough men are sharpening their skills to crush the soft sissified units of the United States Armed Forces and then rape and pillage and carry off our children?
What difference does it make that God is no longer welcome in our Public Square, that the institutions of Faith themselves have lost their way to the false gods of the Left, that our Churches are empty because our People no longer believe in the sanctity of Life, in the Greatness of their Nation, in their ability to achieve rather than to merely suck down the product of their neighbors’ efforts?
When all is now hopeless and lost, what difference does it make?
America will be back. I do believe that. We are and remain the New Jerusalem. The Left is the “What Difference Does It Make” Crowd. There is still some spirit and spunk within us. We are still a Nation of Believers. We still have our Second Amendment, for now - though our Free Press has cast its lot with Tyranny. We have to counter the lies of the pro-government / Tyrant’s Press. And, they will have to come and get our guns. We simply must defeat the Tyrannical Left if we are to survive as a Nation.
It All Makes a Difference, Madame Secretary. Benghazi makes a difference. The Second Amendment makes a difference. We shall prevail.
