” Looks like trouble. ‘bipartisan group of members’ ???”

I see history repeating itself. In the 1960s, hippies did not want to be drafted and killed in Vietnam. Although the US leaders really wasted many lives, the hippies would not have wanted to go to any war. They wanted to change the government.

Bob Dylan, The Times they are A-Changin':

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

And sure enough, the legacy of the 1960s includes not only the war protests, but "Free Love," which led to Roe v Wade, gay rights, the 1965 Immigration act, etc.

Now flash forward to 2011. Illegal aliens don't want to be deported any more than the hippies wanted to be drafted, and the pro-amnesty movements seem unstoppable. In that yesr, the Dylan song came out in Spanish:

Los Tiempos Estan Cambiando

As Dylan sang, "Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin’"

I think this amnesty BOHICA mess shows that the nation has lost its bearings, and things are likely to get much worse.

RE :”I think this amnesty BOHICA mess shows that the nation has lost its bearings, and things are likely to get much worse. “

I know why there is such support for illegals now, besides having O work on it calling them ‘immigrants’ and relating them to my grandparents who came in legally through Ellis Island just after WWI.

The reason is something I been warning about here for many years its : overwhelming LEGAL immigration (non-whites naturally) . And this started long before Obama,
I see it here every-day and my East coast state has been Balkin-ized allowing wave after wave of tax increases and same sex marriage and Dream Act due to these huge voter changes.
And here a large % are Koreans. Didnt the pubbies promise these were conservatives?

When you move so many foreigners in so fast and many jump the system with family visas they are going to be sympathetic to illegals who they see are like them.
Especially those who where raised here as kids who are now young adults. You can forget about sending them anyplace.

And as Obama portrays illegals as the same as those ‘who built this country’ who do we have to counter that message?
Romney? Yep, he was the immigration hawk in the primary.

Rub is claiming his plan doesn't give ‘immediate citizenship’ but it does give citizenship, meaning giving them voting even if delayed a few years.

After the Romney (who was the immigration hawk in R primary) disaster I am convinced that Dems have such a huge advantage on this issue now that we better draw a line in a place where we have some chance of winning, and that is citizenship(voting) .

Remove citizenship from Rubs bill and Dems will reject it.
Or Only give citizenship to illegals who are likely to vote against Dems (in the bill) and Dems will reject it. That may exclude 99% of illegals.

Rub wants to run for POTUS and now he knows Hispanics will cream those in that race against ‘reform’ as they did Romney.

Perfect example : undocumented (illegal) adults who were brought here illegally as underage kids and grew up here and graduated from HS and maybe even now in college
There is no way Republicans will win a fight trying to kick them out. In fact no Republicans POTUS will suggest it. Republicans better wake up and smell the coffee.
We better be realistic or it is over, or they will all vote Dem when a Rub/Obama amnesty bill finally passes.

RE :” Boehner: It’s ‘time to deal’ with immigration

Romney beat out the other candidates by accusing them of being weak on illegals/immigration, and then Hispanics turned out in swing states to make sure that he lost.(guess what? There are more Dems than Republicans and more libs than conservatives)

That is why they are here.

So now many Republicans are lining up to give illegals the vote because O is demanding it and they are terrified. We better stop this move to their citizenship (to Dreamers voting) or it is over.

Lets be realistic,
Adults here now who were brought here as underage kids and grew up here then graduating from high school here maybe in college are not going anywhere.
There is no argument that can be won to claim they are criminals.

As I been posting, Republicans better wake up and smell the coffee or we will be seeing millions of new Dem voters granted their ‘citizenship’ to vote.

From the day they turned 18 they were now adults and if still here they have been criminals ever since...

Illegal entry is a crime...

to stay here as an adult knowing that they entered illegally regardless of their age at the time...

is a crime...

Let’s be really realistic...

any illegal alien 18 and above is a criminal...

We are screwed either way I guess. If the GOP says deport them all, they vote for Dems. If the GOP lets them stay, they all get "path to citizenship" and vote Dem, or worse, eventually.

"Wake up and smell the coffee?" Then what?

Right now those who apply are temporarily legal under that EO.

No one will win a national election by criminalizing others ‘for who they are’ rather than ‘what they did’.
The idea that a 6 year old brought here by parents is a criminal deserving punishment dosent even pass the smell test.

That is like the Muslims sentencing a woman lashses with a whip for fornication because she was raped.

In fact who in congress is saying that now?
You ever hear one Republican (since the election) specifically refer to adults brought here say at 6 years as criminals for being here (and getting a public education per court ruling)deserving punishment ? You wont.

A less suicidal argument is to let those specific victims stay without the vote or government poverty benefits , by extending their current legal stay.

That is what we got now that has to be changed.

We got one group of GOP who are rushing to give illegals the vote and benefits hoping that will buy them a few votes, perhaps a few Asian votes since even Asians vote against the GOP now.

The other group, the ‘ deport them all even those raised here since childhood ’ Gside has ideas so toxic that they wont even offer their ideas in a proposal for a bill anymore. They just whisper them to each other.
(and they cant win national elections on it either to do it by EO)
So their position in practice is ‘do nothing’.

So here are the three proposals far:

1) Give amnesty and the vote now(Obama), or
2) Give amnesty and the vote a little later, after a panel decides the border is effeciively closed ??? (Rub, Mccain))
3) Stick head in sand, do nothing, offer nothing, and pray that Bohner doesnt put #1 or #2 up for a house vote because they are likely to pass. with Dem votes

How about a #4 that doesnt give illegals the vote, doesnt give them freebees, gives a stricter path to legalization (say for those who grew up here as kids and graduated HS) without rallying Hispanics to cream the GOP again in 2016 for demonizing those for 'who they are' rather than 'what they did' ?

How about in the bill a part that makes it a felony to bring a minor to this country illegally? Should have done that in the Reagan amnesty bill. That criminalizes the victimizers not the victims.

To complete the thought, how about making a condition of partial legalization for those adults raised here as kids (verified by a HS diploma/records) that they identify who brought them here so they can be deported?

That would make Dems scream.

To be fair, none of our opinions matter, they will do what they will do.

Any chance Rubs idea will die in Senate?

devils advocate is good, and the strategies your suggesting are, sadly, the only political options remaining...

we're bailing out the titanic with the silver teacups from the upper deck...

it over except for the final, giant sucking sound...

better find a lifeboat, or be ready to survive on a piece of driftwood...

and, sadly again, this is just one of many/every issue where *we* have been hosed and impotent to do a damn thing about the trajectory for at least a generation...

just wait til queers or gun control freeks get the vote...

wait, what ?!?!?!?!

thanks,
I know our opinions do not change anything but I been watching O cream Rs on every issue,
one GOP side wants to work with O (and they make believe they are fighting him to fool us),
the other GOP side repeats the same points used by the GOP that were supposed to win us 2012 but didnt. ("just cut Romney's taxes and we all will have jobs just like in 1985, illegals will all self-deport")

I would just the GOP to turn the tables on O and try something he doesnt expect for a change.

Hispanic votes far outnumber gays but the problem is that only one side has been fighting that cultural battle(marriage) , so we are screwed.

Who nationally has been countering the Dem messages? Who articulates the value of traditional marriage to all those new immigrants and young kids in public schools?

There was a time when blacks and Hispanics were not keen on gay marriage, but now they all appear to have bonded together as victims saved by Obama.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Have you asked your Senator/Cong/legislator if they ever spent time at Case de Campo resort in the Dominican Republic?

In the next 72 hours we, the people, will probably be seeing the pols slobbering for amnesty getting clobbered w/ a stale burrito---a major once-in-a-generation US national scandal.

Obama will have to adminster No-Doz to the sleepy Holder and the DOJ, to nail this pronto---- b/c the monumentality of the scandal will impact on Obama's nefarious scheme to conjure up new Democratic voters by handing citizenship to illegal latinos.

The Fanjul brothers (sugar billionaires) own the Dominican Republic resort where Sen Menendez (D-NJ) and underage prostitues cavorted. The Fanjuls have entertained dozens and dozens of Senators and Congressmen at this luxe resort.

US citizens are looking at a national scandal of enormous proportions---hidden til now---probably entailing long-term blackmailing of our nation’s leaders with the aid of videos of underage prostitution at Casa de Campo.

There are also voluminous paper trails WRT who in US govt has been to Casa de Campo in the last 20 years (since the Fanjuls have owned the resort).

Let the fiesta begin. Ole.

A bipartisan group of House members has been quietly meeting

Wow, so much for openness and seeing bills at least 72 hours on line before they are voted on so people can give their input. Transparency, my butt.
