Marco Rubio wins big praise from Rush Limbaugh By: Kevin Cirilli January 29, 2013 01:55 PM EST

Sen. Marco Rubio went into Rush Limbaugh’s lion’s den on Tuesday and came out with a rousing praise and support from the conservative radio show host for the Florida Republican’s effort to reform the country’s immigration system.

“What you are doing is admirable and noteworthy. You are recognizing reality. You are trumpeting it. You are shouting it,” Limbaugh said on his radio program during a 15-minute phone interview with Rubio. “My concern is the president wants to change the reality.”

Limbaugh added: “You’re seek compromise, Obama is seeking political victory.”

Limbaugh asked Rubio if he thought Obama really wanted an immigration deal or whether he wanted to preserve the status quo so the president could paint Republicans as anti-Hispanic for political gain.

“They can try to sell that, but I doubt people are going to buy it. Because the reality of it is we have put something that is very common sense and reasonable,” Rubio said.

“They can’t argue that we haven’t tried to do our part to come up with something reasonable here, which has always been our point,” Rubio added. “Our point has always been that we have to fix this problem, but just because we’re for what you’re for doesn’t mean that we’re anti-immigrant and anti-immigration. And I think certainly it’s hard to make that argument to me… I didn’t read about this in a book, I live this everyday.”

Limbaugh repeatedly commended Rubio, saying that he hopes he succeeds in selling conservative ideals to the public.

Rubio has obviously gotten word from the Romney/Rove wing of the GOP that the big money will back him in 2016.

So he is going all in RINO now. No surprise.

Yeah...I’m gonna get on that train based solely on what Politco says - not. I heard Rubio and Rush. Rush essentially said he was SLICK! POLISHED! ON-MESSAGE ALWAYS!.....he didn’t say he said he agrees!

The sole argument for this appeasement is getting the Pubs more of that supposedly elusive, fickle Hispanic vote. We gotta appease them or else Rubio can’t get that big “Get” he can hang his hat on in 2016 race for the Presidency.

Afterwards, Rush demonstrated through history that this notion is bullshit. He cited Reagan’s numbers pre and post 1986 where he believed Democrat bullshit and did the dirty deed on amnesty....what did GWHB get? BUPKISS of the Hispanic vote -—even less!

SCREW THIS! SCREW POLITICO! SCREW RUBIO! I want these invaders gone or made irrelevant and illegal in every part of our society! I think Rush does too in his heart. We are Americans, not sniveling squat-to-pee appeasers.

I’m a Floridian and was OK with Rubio as House Speaker overall. But besides his rock star status nationally among conservatives, his conservative credentials are not as stronh here.

He does speak well but I am not buying into this crap - regardless of Rush’s apparent enchantment.

If Rubio is right on people over-staying their visa’s because they are not tracked or monitored by the government that issued the visa, it seems a simple policy change to say you track from the moment they land until they go.

We don’t need any new laws opening the boarders more.

doesn’t mean that we’re anti-immigrant and anti-immigration.

Rubio, if you are for illegal aliens getting AMNESTY, a path to citizenship etc

then you ARE anti-immigrant and anti-immigration.

it means just that ...

Marco ain’t a dumb bunny...he saw how an incompetent like Obama could get elected..he’s smart, he’s conservatively hip, he’s all that...he’s looking for that extra bump he thinks he can get with his brother Hispanics by appeasing on this with a spiel to conservatives that “this is the last best thing we can get and make it right” “Trust me, I’ll make sure we’re protected”.....all to do one thing - get elected President.

I ain’t buying it, not one damned bit. Yeah, I like him, but I’m not about to take it up the illegal alien invasion a$$ to get him elected.

Rush did everything but bend over for Rubio.

Not one question about how this actually helps Americans. Nothing about how flooding the labor market wont make unemployment rise or wages drop....nothing.

He kissed Rubio’s a**. It was frustrating to listen to.

The problem of people on expired visas is not huge. That is dem style misdirection by Rubio.

It’s the border jumpers with no paper and those who employ them that turned CA into Northern Mexico. Now they are working on flipping TX and FL. Why should we help them do that?

I listened to much of the interview and I believed that Rubio did a great job.

Later, I read an article listing Rubio as having voted to support of John TRAITOR Kerry for Secretary of State.....

That’s my thinking. Also, no seems to recall Rubio’s own version of the “Dream Act”.

Rush doesn't understand the impact of an amnesty. The Heritage Foundation concluded that the cost of amnesty would be $2.6 trillion just for increased entitlement program costs. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen.

Rush is just another tool of the political class.

Visa overstays comprise 40% of the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country. Border security is only part of the problem.

I’d think it would be easier for Florida to maintain their borders than, say, Texas/NewMex/Arizona/Cali.

Rubio’s plan doesn’t speak to the overland illegals.
