The U.S. Senate Thursday defeated an amendment that aimed to prevent the Obama administration from transferring F-16 fighter aircraft and Abrams tanks to an Egypt in disarray.
A vote to block the measure proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)—an amendment to the debt limit bill—passed by a 79–19 vote.
In a strong-worded floor statement Paul questioned the wisdom of providing the sophisticated weaponry at a time when “many see Egypt descending into chaos.” …
“I think this is particularly unwise since Egypt is currently governed by a religious zealot, a religious zealot who said recently that Jews were ‘bloodsuckers’ and ‘descendants of apes and pigs,’” he said. “This doesn’t sound like the kind of stable personality that we would be sending our most sophisticated weapons to.” …

“Sales” is kind of a subjective term in situations like this.
As I understand it the sale involves us giving them the money to give to someone else and we give them the jets (and our money).
This is on the shoulders of the manufacturers as well.
They, themselves, should protest. They could stop the physical transfer of the materials from their property, but I’m not holding my breath.
Everyday, our Government gives us a new reason to question their competency.

So this is a roundabout way of subsidizing the Military-Industrial complex and giving Egypt jets that they can’t really use. Big surprise.
I heard career politician Senator Sessions on the radio today say this was a tough vote because we have long standing arrangements. Anyone with a brain knows giving the Egyptians 200 tanks and 50 planes will only be used to kill Israelis. Shame Sessions Shame. Retire and go home. Boo...get off the stage.
Maybe they should just add an EXTRA circuit to these tanks and fighters that might ACCIDENTALLY cause the electronics to fuse into a smoking lump at the most inopportune time.

Long standing arrangements agreed to by that idiot Jimmy Carter. And the government he agreed with is no longer standing.
And those arrangements never committed us to supplying them with planes and tanks and the like, unless we saw fit.
These guys are a bunch of corrupt pork-grubbers. I suppose they figure if they vote against it, Obama the Muslim will give them less pork.

We are not selling them the latest and greatest versions of this stuff and we can cut off parts supply’s at any time.

Paul redeemed himself partially after his disappointing Kerry vote, but Cruz is the man now.
I wonder how many of the 79 are Jews willing to sell out Israel for their 30 pieces of silver.

That’s not good. Maybe it’ll be worth it but I doubt it.
