Obama’s State of the Union to add details to far-reaching agenda
The Hill ^

Posted on 02/09/2013 9:42:30 AM PST by SMGFan

President Obama will map out the contours of his second-term agenda when he speaks to the nation in his State of the Union address on Tuesday night. In a speech meant to build on his second inaugural address — which was directed at the Democratic base and served as a bookend of sorts to his reelection campaign— Obama will put details on the far-reaching government agenda he hopes will become part of his legacy.

The economy will remain Topic A, and Obama’s speech is expected to warn of the danger automatic spending cuts known as the sequester pose to a slowly improving economy. At the same time, Obama will give due weight to other priorities such as immigration and gun control. Obama has newfound freedom to be more combative, not to mention left-leaning, because he doesn’t face reelection, but he simultaneously needs to define goals that are capable of attracting majority support.

Won't GOP House leadership say Obama plans are "dead on arrival"?

Someone please tell him to "shut up". What difference does it it make? His far left extreme agenda is not what America wants.

He doesn’t need “majority support”. Why do you think Homeland Security is buying all that ammunition?

And the economy is not getting better. I predict we will have an economic collapse, one engineered by the banksters behing the Federal Reserve. Don’t think they can do it?

Of course they can - because they’ve done it before.

Amnesty for illegals and gun control voters in congress will be out of a job ASAP in next elections. Re sequester, US government should halt all spending, reassess necessities and proceed with the bare minimum. USA is broke.

With states openly defying the Federal Government on several fronts, unprecedented purchases of ammo and weapons by murky federal agencies, and muted talk of secession and CWII, the "state of the union" has not been worse in about 150 years.

But we all know that he won't mention any of that.

I wish to God when Obama lies about HIS sequester (i.e. the Obama Sequester), the Republicans would walk out of the room.

Or at the first lie, then Obama could preach to the choir. I’m not watching it anyway, he makes me nauseas.

“His far left extreme agenda is not what America wants.”

***

Actually, he says frequently that the American people want this or that. His fraudulent re-election has assured him that whatever his agenda, everyone is in favor of it. And I'm sure his true believers believe it. Trouble is, they don't know what that agenda really is. And when they find out how that agenda adversely impacts their lives, it will be too late.

His fraudulent re-election

I wouldn't argue with your terminology, but cheating only works on the margins.

The fact that Baraq got close enough to cheat tells you this ain't the country most of us grew up in.

I would love to see the speaker, of course this will not happen with the gonadless current speaker, announce at the end of his excellency’s sermon that the house is not in recess, for the speaker to yell out to the sergeant at arms to bar egress to anyone and for him to deliver a point by point litany of each lie his excellency has stated. His “state of the union” is nothing more than a political rant so make it so and fire back. Rubio can then issue the coup de grace.

There will be no details. Only rhetoric, condescension and insults.

It’s Baraq’s way. If we had an opposition with balls in this country, they’d get up and walk out.

The time has long since passed for “oh-ho, we gotcha” replies to this Communist. He needs to be treated like the non-entity he is.

“We have a mandate. (He wishes. By that I mean “man date” like he did in the old days.) The people have spoken and this is what they want. In my second term...............” I guess I’ll be able to have a nice meal that night since hussein isn’t going to make me nauseous since I won’t be watching. Not sure if I even care to hear the Repubs response either. Kind of like a two headed coin. Someone needs to step up and tell it like it really is. Good luck with that. I want a CINC that’ll will uphold the constitution and bill of rights as he/she is sworn to. I swore to protect and defend 45 years ago and I still hold myself to that oath.

The GOPers should not walk out during Obama's State of the Union address.

They shouldn't show up in the first place.

Let Obama face his audience consisting only of the Dem House and Senate zombie cult members.....the Joint Chiefs of No-Stuff.......the latest hot doo-wop group, John-John Roberts and the Supremes......the Sandy Hook Shooting Childrens' Choir.... plus the usual lefty Code Pink banshees planted in the gallery.

Oh; I doubt it.

He'll say whatever he thinks will placate the chattering class; and then go on about his business.

Of course, the supine GOP will do neither. But as a dramatic statement, retiring from the chamber can’t be beaten.

The Democrats would of course act like Democrats in response, and receive the full support of the equally supine national media. It would be the time to make the ultimate political statement in response. I’d say something like this:

“The State of the Union is broken — not simply by failed policy but by the deliberate efforts of the far left wing, which has for years been waiting for just this chance to destroy the world’s greatest remaining bastion of freedom. There is still time to stop these people but it needs to be said: the dilapidated State of our Union is not an accident. It is the product of a long-held plan from the radical left, of which the current administration and the national media are both willing tools.”

Too bad there isn’t the political will out there to try either of the options we’ve discussed.

No need to expend much hot air: he could merely say, “I plan to follow in the footsteps of my hero, Lenin,” and that would suffice.

It would be powerful and to the point and honest.

But...politicians don’t seem to like that. Unfortunately...

The GOP should just chant, “YOU LIE”.

Nope, not at all.

That's exactly what the guy wants. He's proven himself to be pretty comfortable dealing with head-on confrontation from the Republican Party, which he loathes.

Better approach would be laughter.

Turn Saul Alinsky back on the guy and openly mock and ridicule him with derisive laughter whenever he makes what he thinks is a profound Liberal/Progressive policy statement.

Of course, even funnier would be for every Republican to show up at the State of the Union with a red Solo cup, and whenever he proposes bigger, more intrusive and more expensive government yell "DRINK!" and act like they're taking a swig.
