BIG BEAR (CBSLA.com) — Several weapons and cold weather survival gear have allegedly been found inside the burned-out truck owned by accused killer Christopher Dorner, CBS News has learned.
A law enforcement official working on the investigation told the network a Coleman stove, cot and propane gas supplies were found inside Dorner’s Nissan Titan.
Two long-range rifles with suppressors and a Glock handgun were also reportedly recovered.
The truck was discovered early Friday morning on a dirt service road between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit resorts approximately seven hours after Dorner allegedly fired at officers, killing one and critically injuring another, in Riverside. A third officer in Corona suffered a graze wound.
The 33-year-old Dorner is also wanted by Irvine police in connection with the murders of 28-year-old Monica Quan and her fiance, 27-year-old Keith Lawrence, on Feb. 3.
The official also told the network that the discovery does not preclude the possibility that Dorner has additional weapons and gear.
Dorner remains at large. Officers on Saturday resumed their search in Big Bear for Dorner.
Elsewhere in Buena Park, Irvine police confirmed to CBS2 that detectives served a search warrant Friday evening at a storage locker belonging to Dorner.
According to a public information officer, items of evidence were collected.

I wouldn’t call that cold weather survival gear.
After a few years of tenting it in Canada, we said sc*** the cots and just used sleeping bags.
I guess I can't see a real good reason for a cot except as tinder. He's toying with us.
How does one tell if someone had a cot in the back of a completely charred pickup truck? I can understand the guns still being recognizable depending upon the heat of the fire, but a lightweight cot? As for his supposed “survival gear” the cot and the stove are “disposable” frankly. As for cold-weather survival in the high altitudes and mountains... you all make it sound like he’s heading up Mt. Everest. My husband used to go winter camping with our children in the Rockies - he’d be amused at all the people who think this guy is “definitely dead”.
A wacko, yes... but I wouldn’t trust anything the LAPD and associated agencies are saying about this guy or what they found at this point. Even if he’s already dead, he already bested them in some ways... And, incidentally, the LAPD proved one of his manifesto charges themselves - being “trigger-happy”. Just ask the newspaper delivery women if they think the LAPD AREN’T?
All that said, I don’t admire Dorner in any real way whatsoever. Just kind of amazed at some of the posters here saying this guy is a complete idiot - never underestimate your enemy...

A young Navy officer buddy pointed out that the guy didn’t have a NAM, the Navy Achievement Medal, which apparently everyone gets for keeping his nose clean for his first couple years.
Another indication of this guy being a real screw up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s found frozen in a ditch. Or, if it’s not until Spring that he’s found, dead in a ditch with bugs up his nose, as we like to say.

Room temperature or below freezing, he just needs to have a higher IQ than the average LAPD commander. Which, from what we've seen, can not possibly be a very high number.

Of course he does. He could have disposed of the truck and its contents in such a way as it wouldn't have been found for weeks. Burning it public like that was intentional, he wanted it to be found. He's handing them information - the information he wants them to have, leading to the conclusions/perceptions he wants to create. Any gear left behind was redundant or unnecessary for his plans.
The dude has help. He is not traveling alone if at all. He is also not in the area of Big Bear. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Take notes folks, they may come in handy later
