Wheels coming off... ObamaCare policies will cost more, cover far fewer than promised
New York Post ^ | February 10, 2013 | BETSY MCCAUGHEY

Posted on 02/11/2013 1:22:11 PM PST by BulletBobCo

The Affordable Care Act is looking less and less affordable.

Start with the IRS’s new estimate for what the cheapest family plan will cost by 2016: $20,000 a year to cover two adults and three kids. And that will only cover 60 percent of medical bills, so add hefty out-of-pocket costs, too.

The next surprise is for parents who thought their kids would be covered by an employer. Sloppy wording in the law left that unclear until last week, when the IRS ruled that kids won’t be covered.

Starting in 2014, the law will require employers with 50 or more full-time employees to offer coverage or pay a penalty. “Affordable” coverage, that is — meaning the employee can’t be told to contribute more than 9.5 percent of his salary. For example, a worker earning $40,000 a year cannot be required to pay more than $3.800.

But the law doesn’t specifically mandate family coverage — and now the administration says that won’t be required.

It doesn’t matter if ANYONE gets health care benefits or how many.... the people who launched this monstrosity will STILL stuff their pockets and we will still be virtual serfs to the ‘fed’... and that is all it’s been about anyway!

As I am typing this I am listening to a news story about Sandy victims seeing a huge new property tax increase.

There is going to be a revolt, I suspect. I’m so glad I moved out of the blue county and state.

Even a loyal Democrat would admit that this would happen.

It’s only that 25% of lunatics who continue to make excuses.

Yes, the media is included into that 25%.

There are going to be a LOT of 49 employee businesses out there, some of which are 55 or 59 employee companies now, if you get my drift. ;-)

Gawd this is going to get ugly.

So Obamacare ends up covering only 9 Million more people?

We went through all this turmoil for that?

When libtards realize that obamacare is a failure, they will just switch to nationalized socialized medicine which is what they wanted in the first place.

The objective of Obamacare has always been to destroy private health insurance and eliminate alternates to government-controlled single payer health care, not to provide health care. The objective of government-controlled single-payer health care is to maximize the power of the federal government and the political class, not to provide health care.

So far things are going just as planned.

Yes, that was/is the goal.

But that will increase the deficit even more. Likely why Obama's been saying lately the deficit really isn't a problem.

And if any of us have to suffer and die in the interim, it can be pinned on the republican obstructionism. Probably advantageous to libs to have some very real death and suffering mixed in.

Did the a$$hole$ who voted democrat really think that there could be free health insurance for all and that no one would have to pay?
This monstrosity is obviously about giving “free” health insurance to the “poor” and “oppressed” and making those eeevvvvilll “oppressor” productive hard-working citizens pay for it.
What a mess.

What I can’t understand is why people seem to be having such a hard time seeing this. There’s no point in focussing on the details of who is covered, who isn’t, and what it really winds up costing, when the point of it was always to get us to nationalised healthcare a la Europe. The even bigger point of it, and other legislation, is wealth redistribution from the makers to the takers. It all ties together and then leads to that one thing. Disarming us is also part of that, to disable us from being able to protect ourselves and our property.

The even bigger picture, when you look at it from a distance, is one-world government.

I would be very surprised if it wasn’t full of young, inexperienced, ideology-driven, and unqualified staffers who shouldn’t have been allowed to write anything more important than party invitations.

re: Even a loyal Democrat would admit that this would happen.

You are way too generous with those people. The best that can be said of them of that their heads are so far up their rear ends they are incapable of seeing anything that should be obvious to anyone with a moderately functioning brain. “Loyal Democrats” are loyal to their party, not to the truth. The most recent election underscored that fact.

Let’s see, an example:

2 adults, 3 kids with $100,000/year income

20% of income and only 60% coverage (another $5,000?)

25% of gross income just cover health insurance

And that will be only if the health care costs don’t go up!

I believe the President expected the Supreme Court to take it apart, and dissolve it....making that the number one issue of the 2012 election. It was simple math...he’d use the same topic all over again, and reach the same crowd, and get the votes to win.

I suspect he was greatly shocked when the law was stamped ‘ok’, and proclaimed a tax. He really didn’t expect that, and he’s probably sweating a bit now because it’ll drag on the economy unless he can get Republicans into the Senate to tear it apart (Nov 2014 election).

This is what a lot of people don't see coming. It's not just higher premiums. It's lower coverage with a higher deductible before coverage kicks in.

I have yet to hear a single Republican in Congress ask Obama why he signed a law that exempts himself and his family. Shouldn't be asking too much for the President to submit himself and his family to legislation bearing his name.

It’s over. Capitalism we grew up with is over. There will be death panels...and sick people will line up to die when the government tells them to.

I’m glad I’m on the way out...it’s the next generation I feel for...they are going to pay and pay and pay...until it’s time for them to die...as the government directs them.

It' been obvious to me from the beginning what Obama's mission is....to bring down America from within. Anyone that studied his background, info on his family and past associations, etc. (what little there is out there) would also know WHY he is here. I and other righties tried so hard to make others see who and "what" Obama is. The fact that so many refused to see the truth until it was waaay too late only makes this on-going destruction of the greatest nation on earth all the more hard to stomach. It could have been avoided if only so many folks had not been so blind. ("There are none so blind as those who will not see".)

Let’s go one better.

Family of 5 brings in 100,000 dollars a year. 28% fed taxes. Now have 72,000. 12% SS tax, now have 60,0000. State tax 8.25(blue state) now have 51,0000. Mortgage, let’s call it 2,000 a month. We now have 27,000. Knock off the 20,000 if or Obamacare. That family of 5 now has 7,000 a year to pay for food, gas, clothes, sales tax. And anything else that they may need.

So a family that makes 100,000 dollars a year is basically living in poverty.

The details didn’t matter, that’s why Pelosi could blithely say, “We have to pass it to know what’s in it”. It didn’t matter what the details were or if they made sense or clashed with other details, because this legislation in and of itself was never the point. Using it to crash the system of healthcare in this country is the point, in order to then enact nationalised “healthcare”.

Just like we are already seeing legislators coming out calling for handgun control, before the smoke has cleared on all the trumped-up calls for control on “assault weapons”, onerous registration and permit requirements, etc.

Just like the DOMA wlll be dismissed without debate, after it’s gutted by the death of a thousand cuts through various ways.

These are all examples of leftist/marxist incrementalism at its finest. It’s also an example of how they stir up phoney public “debates” on certain issues, while quietly keeping other issues out of the public square so they can deal with them as they please-ie, “deflection” when they don’t have the upper hand on an issue (and they decide which issues will get the attention as it suits their need at the moment).
