White House stuck on sequester next step
Politico ^ | March 2, 2013 | CARRIE BUDOFF BROWN

The only thing President Barack Obama can do now is wait.

For the pain of the $85 billion in indiscriminate budget cuts to sink in. For the public to then demand that Washington fix it. And, lastly, for Republicans to feel enough pressure that they agree to raise taxes as part of a deal to turn off sequester...

Obama’s decision Friday to remove the threat of a government shutdown in late March as a leverage point in the standoff means that the sequester will remain in place for weeks — if not months, or longer. He set into a motion a risky strategy that rests entirely on the slim chance that Republicans do an about-face on tax hikes after a public outcry...

The timing also wasn’t in his favor. The impact of the cuts wouldn’t have been felt until well after the current resolution expires March 27, leaving Democrats in a weak position to try to use the government funding fight as a vehicle for replacing the sequester.

So a proposal once deemed so draconian that neither party would allow it to go into effect became a reality, the latest symbol of Washington dysfunction. Obama and Congress agreed to the sequester in 2011 as a last-ditch effort to avert a debt-limit crisis, but the president failed to take into account that Republicans would come to view it as a palatable tool for deficit reduction...

Obama faces an uncertain few months as he attempts to balance a series of budget battles with his ambitious second-term agenda, all while hoping that the sequester doesn’t dampen the fragile economic recovery that he’s worked hard to achieve.

This is not true.

Obama may be waiting for his handlers to deliver the next program for him to push but they are working on things even after the next election. Conspiracy never stops.

Obama knows that the fiction of “recovery” has run its course and negative numbers are coming, so bad that they can’t be massaged away. He needs a scape goat and the sequester is all he’s got. His faithful, the press, will buy it.

Obama’s next step on the sequester is a spring break vacation in 3 weeks.

Not likely to see Obama do anything that will right a sinking ship. Complete collapse is his stated objective.

Well, if his last step was his PR push leading up to the sequester, how did that work out for him?

He cares for nothing. It would just be an appeasement move. It’s really got all the approvals in order....Part of his plan.

What pathetic analysis. The least she could do to have a smidgen of credibility would have been to say, “Obama’s staff did him no favor by feeding him the easily refuted claim that Capitol janitors would see their pay cut, a claim that was knocked down within twelve hours.”

“For the pain of the $85 billion in indiscriminate budget cuts to sink in”

Another bunch of BS. He does have some discrimination on where the cuts are. He is trying to make the cuts as painful as possible for political purposes.

LOL. That stood out like a sore thumb for me, too. When I read that, I knew this was Pravda.

The democrats are in trouble. They need money to buy votes. Unless they can come up with a new social program or free handout of some sort in time for the next election, the freeloaders won't bother to get out of bed to vote.
EVERY election, the democrats HAVE to promise more spending of other people money. If there's no money for them to buy votes, they are going to be so screwed!
What makes it even harder for them is the 8% unemployment and the 17 trillion dollar spending debt. The American people are suffering and scared because of what Washington has done to them, and I don't think they're going to be in the mood for increased tax slavery or more borrowing just so the freeloaders can have a more comfortable lifestyle at their expense.

AND......wait until the suffering and impoverished massess see moochelle Marcos making another glamor shot, their kids having another million dollar spring break vacation, and oboma flying off to some luxurious resort for a golf outing. The internet photoshops are going to go viral! (and we have to make absolutely sure that happens)

At this point EVERYTHING must be viewed though the prism of the 2014 mid-term elections. The damage this African communist rat-bastard Ubama could do to America as a lame duck with a rat congress is incalculable, and he knows it. He also knows his Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms are there to help him along in every way possible.

For the next two years, all bad news about “the economy” will be blamed on the Republicans.
Naturally, any good news will be credited to Ubama and will be “in spite of Republican opposition to his policies”.
Count on it.

Why doesn’t someone just ask President Obama why he spends 1.5 billion to send jets to Muslim Brotherhood RUN EGYPT when he could just use that money instead to hold our military budget from being slashed?

Oh yeah, that would mean we had SOMEONE, ANYONE in the Press WILLING to ask a STRAIGHT FORWARD QUESTION???

Well, where are all the Freepers who said the GOP would cave on the sequester?

We've got it now. And Obama will have trouble calling "wolf" again because many of his claims about calamity are proving to be false.

It will be an interesting few weeks ahead as we head into the debt ceiling debate.

Obamacare starts January 1st 2014 and there will be a big backlash against Bathhouse Barry and the Rats. The backlash will start early in October when multi-million dollars in Obamacare advertising begins which will threaten people to buy Obamacare on the exchanges by January 1st or face the consequences. Grab some popcorn!
