More than 380 members of the Strongsville Education Association voted to go on strike starting at midnight March 4. In the conference room at the Strongsville Holiday Inn, the teachers, guidance counselors and psychologists voted "overwhelmingly" to reject the Strongsville School Board's last best offer, given at March 2 collective bargaining negotiations, and instead deliver a work stoppage to the board of education, according to a press release.
The strike culminates more than seven months of regular negotiations and more than a month of protests from the teachers at board of education meetings and most recently at the Strongsville Police Department March 3. (clip) School Board President David Frazee said the teachers' vote was unfortunate.
"I guess the good thing is that we've been prepared for this since they made the announcement," he said, referring to the SEA filing its 10-day notice of intent to strike Feb. 21. "As much as I don't want to see this happen, we're going to keep moving forward, keep the schools open and keep everyone safe" (clip)

The “public school”, including the “charter school”, is BY FAR, the largest, most expensive, most subversive, and most destructive entitlement program in the country.
The “public school” is better understood as the “government school collective”.
It is silly to imagine that you can fix the public schools, because the very concept itself is collectivist.
Any child that comes out of the government school collective with their moral compass and common sense intact does so in spite of the government school indoctrination, not because of it.
It is hypocritical for you to submit your children to an authority with whom you fundamentally disagree. And your children will know it.

If you want to win the culture war, have lots of children (see my tagline) and homeschool them or form your own school cooperative with your church or synagogue and like-minded friends and relatives.
Nobody loves your children more than you do.
Nobody can teach your children better than you can.
Nobody knows your children better than you do.
Your children would love nothing better than to be taught by you, if you start doing so before they are corrupted by the government school collective.
If you have children, make whatever sacrifices you must to get them out of the public schools.
DO NOT FEED THE BEAST!

The teachers are being replaced and the schools are up and running today.
Fire every one of the ba$tards. Each and every teacher(?) who fails to show up for work for the next school day, should be fired immediately. There’re lots of people with education degrees who’d love to take their jobs.
You can expect students across Ohio to suddenly get assignments of finding news articles online, printing them out and then writing about this strike. These educrats always stick up for their buddies.
So much for the importance of education. If teachers can walk out, I guess it really isn’t that important.
Stronsville is a pretty well-run and fairly affluent community. Within commuting distance of Cleveland and most business areas, yet still barely within the county.
It’s hard to predict how things will go.
On the one hand, the Dems infest this entire area, and many people were raised to be sympathetic with the union.
On the other, a good many of the residents of Strongsville moved there to get away from the awful Cleveland public school system.
My sense right now, is most people would like to know more about the specifics of the labor disagreement, but that’s all confidential for some reason. They sympathize with the teacher’s right to strike, but are pretty taken aback by the unprofessional, entitled, and thuggish antics of the union - even before the strike started.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a long, drawn out brawl. Considering that there’s less than 4 months in the school year, I think the board’s going to try to wait the teachers out, which will put them in a much better negotiating position for the summer.
It may be a quaint notion but I would have thought the power of a strike lies in the sudden removal of supply from the supply/demand equation. But what if the demand is not at the level the strikers imagine?
Were I the school board or the community, I would view the strike not as a crisis but as a windfall: an opportunity to part company with the incompetent, the trouble-makers, the dead weight. Of course, this is why unions bang on about ‘collective bargaining’ and have convinced the gullible that it’s automatically a good thing (see also: Wisconsin) when in reality it’s the worst sort of camouflage for those who should otherwise be sacked.
Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Cuba....lefties certainly do love their chanting. Helps them avoid independent thought or intelligent conversation I suppose.
The scenes of mousy-brown-hair-and-glasses ‘educators’ getting in the face of substitutes are nothing short of shameful. Why are they permitted to set up their gauntlet of abuse along the school sidewalk? Why isn’t there a cordon set up by the hapless cop? Aren’t these the same people who moan about bullying among 6-year-olds and kick them out of school for any mention of guns? They are cowards and frauds.
My husband and I were watching WOIO, and we thought we heard during an interview with a parent that the teachers were encouraging the kids to “act up” for the subs?

I disagree with this statement. My parents taught me what they could, but they couldn't educate me in fields they had no experience with. For most 'families' there is a limit to the 'education' they can give to their child.
back during the Clinton Admin. Our local teachers went on strike. It got vicious. They brought in coal miner unions to help. Cars destroyed, buildings vandalized and even the Superintendent's dog hung and gutted while it was still alive.
The security team that protected the replacement teachers filmed everything as it happened. (except for the dog incident it was done at night with torches lighting the way of the little KKK wannabes.)
The strike went on for weeks and the blowback on the teachers was legendary. Many things came to light, for instance the secret ballot vote was done by a show of hands and they were all sitting in a big circle so everyone could see who didn't raise their hand (several conservative teachers were targeted by the thugs and had property damaged and were physically assaulted because they did not vote for the strike and told the public what was going on!).
The teachers encouraged the kids to throw desks out the windows of the upper stories and to destroy books and break windows (all caught on tape).
The tapes of all these incidents were edited down to a very illuminating highlights package and distributed around town. When the strike was finally settled the teachers got less than the administration initially offered (much less).
Now every time the teachers mention strike those videos (which were long ago converted to digital files) start magically showing up on local bulletin boards with messages like "We haven't forgotten!" and amazingly the teachers accept what the Admin. offers and then shuts up.
If they go on strike in your area get your neighbors together and film them as long as they are picketing. Sunshine is their enemy and video proof enables the townsfolk to have a long and viral memory!
Most all teachers have a Bachelor’s degree AND a Master’s Degree yet they feel they need to pay $100 per month in union dues so some union thug can negotiate on their behalf. Seems to me with two degrees they ought to be smart enough to negotiate on their own without making union bosses rich at salaries that far surpass the puppet teachers.
1) The school board is offering to increase the base salary of every teacher by 9.3% as it opts out of any further board contributions to teacher retirement programs, instead giving the money to the teachers to invest as they please. The sticking point: Union wanted 10.5% to take into account taxes.
2) The school board wanted teacher contributions to their health care to rise from 10% to 15%, with a cap of $200 per family, up from the present $150. The sticking points: The union wanted payments to stay the same for union members who passed a health screening, and wanted the cap per family to only rise to $175.
3) The board wanted to continue a salary freeze throughout the district. The sticking point: Union would agree to that, so long as those who have had their pay frozen the previous two years would have their base salary increased to where they would be today absent the freeze.
4) And finally: The board wanted to base layoffs off of teacher evaluations, with seniority ONLY used as a decider between two teachers of equal evaluation. The sticking point: The union wanted layoffs to be ONLY based upon seniority.
So, to summarize: The board offered to raise teacher salaries across the board by 9.3%, wanted teachers to pay up to $50 per month more for their health care, wanted to continue the existing pay freeze, and base layoffs solely off of evaluations.
Hopefully the public continues to reject the advances of the thugs who are attempting to use children as hostages in the face of very reasonable requests from the board.
You have to be a special kind of sick to do that to a hapless dog. Your account was chilling yet illuminating. I was a private school teacher for ten years and I shake my head when I watch “professionals” behave in such a boorish manner.
