This is getting a little creepy. According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm. DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP). (30-35,0000 drones are on order--being built in Starkville, Miss.)
Modern Survival Blog reported: The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.
Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.
The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

The MRAP featured in the video was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Law Enforcement Day which was held at a local area Target Store. This MRAP is stationed in El Paso, Texas at The Homeland Security Investigations Office. MRAP is a Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicle.

Remember when DHS' Napolitano said the greatest terrorist threat the Obama administration faced were the US Military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan?

I fault Bush for creating yet another massive Gov’t bureaucracy in the first place.
If you create such a huge agency, staff it with tens of thousands of people, give it billions of dollars, what do you think its going to do? It will find a mission for itself.
The drones are to keep tabs on the undocumented aliens that they just released into the country.
The tanks are to help tow people during big snowstorms.

If true, and I have no reason to doubt it, then WTF does DHS need 2700 armored vehicles for? It has been pretty easy to explain away the ammo, but what can anyone possibly say armored vehicles are for? Training? Yea, right.

As you indirectly point out, the first mission of any bureaucracy is to defend itself, period. This can be done in a few ways, including creating their own mission as you so correctly pointed out.
In this case, I think DHS was handed a devil's bouquet by the Obama administration. He is obviously turning them into his own, personal army to be deployed right here in the US of A, facing off against any and all US citizens who dare to oppose his dictatorial, Socialist/Communist regime's goals of total domination.
This is 1930's Germany all over again....and NO one outside of a few conservative sites/blogs is saying spit about it.
Maybe they are for use as rescue vehicles in the inner city, where the residents randomly fire on police and fire vehicles.

Very. I believe there is a very real, non-zero chance that in the near future - before obozo's last (?) term is up - we may all have to make a choice. A choice between being sheep herded by the new-age socialist/fascists and being part of the Constitutional resistance.
Hey, maybe this is all getting blown out of proportion, maybe people are just connecting the dots in weird ways. But maybe not. There are enough indicators that reasonable people have to start taking the threat seriously.

but the women appear to be ethnically Jewish as well.
that’s more than 1 assault vehicle for every illegal immigrant 0bama released......please enlighten me on how easy it has been to explain away the 1.6 billion rounds.
they also appear to be in their own homes/yards
and none of them have assault rifles

OK, lets assume you caught it. Now what? Since every store and building has surveillance cameras, and there will be govt drones hovering about, how do you plan to create an obstruction and flood the grass without being recognized? All you have accomplished is to get their tank dirty, create a minor inconveniece in waiting for another tank to tow it out, and get yourself arrested/shot.
