Vermont Court to Sentence Pastor for Helping Virginia Ex-Lesbian, Child Flee Country

A federal court is scheduled on Monday to sentence a Mennonite pastor who was convicted of helping a Lesbian-turned-Christian woman to flee the country with her daughter after her former partner was awarded custody of the girl.

Kenneth L. Miller of Stuarts Draft, Va., will appear before Burlington, Vt., Judge William Sessions on Monday afternoon, and faces up to three years in prison, according to The Associated Press.

Prosecutors want Miller to be sentenced to two-and-a-half or three years in prison – the maximum sentence for his conviction in abetting international parental kidnapping. "Because of his brazen intervention, a child – an American citizen – is growing up outside this country, and a mother must bear the unimaginable daily torment of being separated from her child, without any word on her child's health or well-being. Kenneth Miller's offense could not be more serious," prosecutors said in documents filed in the court.

The pastor's attorney counter he should not be sentenced to prison because he is a law-abiding pastor with no previous criminal record. He's a leader in his community who regularly helps people, including Lisa Miller (no relation), whom he didn't know when she came to him for help in 2009, saying she wanted to protect her daughter from her former partner's lesbian lifestyle.

There are few things more unjust in AmeriKa than a VT “court”. Where is Ethan Allen (and Coolidge) when patriots need him?

"..and a mother must bear the unimaginable daily torment of being separated from her child, without any word on her child's health or well-being."

This was not a "mother" nor was it "her child".

How can we help this pastor? He is taking a stand in Vermont, which may as well be Northern New York City, a very very liberal place. He is standing for Jesus Christ. He is standing against the practice of homosexuality.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

“We hear that a guard quieted his enthusiastic singing in the shower. The same guard later awarded him with some extra telephone time. He’s been reading about 40 chapters of Scripture a day. He’s been receiving a lot of correspondence, which is wonderful. At mealtimes, he was asking the blessing for his own food. The inmates at his table asked him to begin saying grace for the whole table. His wife and a few children were up to visit him on the weekend, and found him well.”

After his conviction last August, Pastor Miller told reporters, “I’ve already surrendered my freedom to Christ, and if this is the path he chooses for me, I will walk it. I am willing to accept the consequences. I am at peace with God. I am at peace with my conscience. I give it over to God.”

Here's a local story:

Up to 3 years sought in Vt. custody dispute

BURLINGTON, Vt. — A Virginia pastor convicted of helping a woman flee the country rather than share custody of her daughter with her former lesbian partner has shown no remorse and enjoys the fame the case has brought, federal prosecutors say in court documents asking that he be given up to 2½ to three years in prison at his sentencing today.

Three years is the maximum Kenneth Miller, of Stuarts Draft, could serve for his role in the 2009 flight to Nicaragua of Lisa Miller and her now 10-year-old daughter, Isabella. Kenneth Miller was convicted on a charge of aiding in international parental kidnapping. The Millers are not related.

"Because of his brazen intervention, a child — an American citizen — is growing up outside this country, and a mother must bear the unimaginable daily torment of being separated from her child, without any word on her child's health or well-being. Kenneth Miller's offense could not be more serious," prosecutors said in documents filed in federal court in Burlington.

In their court filings, Kenneth Miller's attorneys counter he should not be sentenced to prison because he is a law-abiding Mennonite pastor with no previous criminal record. He's a leader in his community who regularly helps people, including Lisa Miller, whom he didn't know when she came to him for help in 2009, saying she wanted to protect her daughter from her former partner's lesbian lifestyle.

And if the judge orders that Miller be incarcerated, his attorneys asked that the sentence be delayed until an appeal is completed. In a document filed Friday, Miller said he would appeal on the grounds that the case should not have been tried in Vermont because no part of the crime or its planning occurred in the state.

Lisa Miller and Janet Jenkins were joined in a Vermont civil union in 2000 and Isabella was born to Lisa in 2002. The couple split in 2003. The Vermont family court gave custody of Isabella to Lisa Miller, but gave Jenkins regular visitation.

Lisa Miller then returned to Virginia, became a conservative Christian, renounced homosexuality and sought full custody of the girl. Over the years she didn't follow court-ordered visitation schedules. Two months after Lisa Miller and Isabella fled to Nicaragua via Canada, a Vermont family court judge transferred custody of the girl to Jenkins.

Kenneth Miller's attorneys say the help he gave them was an "amateurish" and "unsophisticated" operation that only worked because law enforcement was not paying attention. They said his adherence to his beliefs made him an easy target for Miller.

"He, along with the Amish-Mennonite community, were an easy target to be used by Lisa Miller and others helping her," his attorneys wrote.

Kenneth Miller was convicted last August following a trial in federal court in Burlington. During the trial, dozens of his supporters packed the courtroom, and after the jury delivered its verdict, many of them stood outside the courthouse and sang hymns.

He was jailed in January for refusing to tell a grand jury investigating the roles that other people played in the flight of Lisa Miller and Isabella. The two are still believed to be in Nicaragua.

Jenkins was not expected to be in court today. Through her attorney, she declined to comment.

I’d be curious to find out how this Virginia pastor got brought to Vermont. Did the Virginia authorities cooperate with an extradition order? Virginia didn’t recognize gay marriage and the woman he helped was a Virginia resident who was the biological mother who left the country through NY. The only connection Vermont has is that they got married in Vermont when Vermont created gay marriage. In my recollection, the state of marriage doesn’t confer jurisdiction over child custody cases. You get married in Hawaii or at Disney World, but live in Arkansas, Arkansas is in charge of the divorce and child custody issues.

Read the article. The couple married in VT, lived in VT until the breakup, the split was presided over by a VT court, and THEN she moved to Virginia.

Also the American Center for Law and Justice.

Sadly, however, he will probably have to serve time in jail and I’m pretty sure he knew that.

If America were still a just nation, the Pastor would treated as a hero and the sick judge who tried to steal the child away from her mother and hand her over to her sick, twisted ex-girlfriend, along with the prosecutors who have imprisoned the heroic Pastor, would be in prison for the rest of his life.

One day, God will eternally reward the Pastor for his courage and eternally punish the judges, prosecutors and jurors involved in this perversion of justice. I wonder if people believed/remembered that Hell is real and is eternal, would they stil persecute the just.

Isnt this the case where the non-bio lesbian was forcing the little girl to bathe nude with her during visitations?

And the little girl was begging her real Mom not to make her go stay with the lesbo Mom?

and the punitive court reaction to bio Mom request to end visitation was to give sole custody to the non-bio related lesbo? and that is when birth Mom went underground?

Imagine if a “Daddy” forecd a little girl to bathe nude with him? That lesbian is a man in a woman’s body

Good for birth Mom. And God Bless the people who helped her and her child escape from this nightmare of a controlling lesbian neurotic. Only a few more years and the child will be old enough to tell tales and defend her revulsion, unlike a scared little girl. Only 8 more years and she is 18 and able to make her own choices, but birth Mom is probably Nicarauguan forever to stay out of US prison and out of reach of the LGBT mafia
