CNN Anchor’s Stunning Question to Laura Bush: To Affect Change Do We Just Need to Accept Some Anti-

CNN anchor Erin Burnett during an interview with former first lady Laura Bush that aired Monday posed a bit of a head-scratcher: Should we “accept” anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism “when we want to make change” in the Middle East?

See for yourself [courtesy NewsBusters]:

“An Egyptian woman, her name’s Samir Ibrahim, and she’s done a lot of things, courageous things. She’s also been criticized for sending tweets that are anti-Semitic, anti-American,” Burnnett said during a segment on the George W. Bush Institute’s Women’s Initiative Fellowship Program.

“Does the U.S. need to accept that when we want to make change? You have to support people that do those things — financially in term of awards, in terms of all these things — because it pays off in the end? Is that a trade-off we have to make?” she asked.

Mrs. Bush responded with a laughing, “No.”

“No, I don’t think so, not necessarily. But I do think it’s really important that we do support women in any way we can in the U.S. And I know American women want to do that,” she answered.

“No, I don’t think so, not necessarily."

Not necessarily? What part of anti-semitism and anti-Americanism is acceptable to you, Laura? How about, for once, saying "that's a ridiculous question" followed immediately by stating this interview is OVER. Better yet, why don't you just shut your damned faux conservative piehole and slink on back to Dallas.

Exactly...and she said it laughingly?

Mrs. Bush responded with a laughing, “No.”
“No, I don’t think so, not necessarily.

I don't see anything funny here, Laura. Nervous laugh? Maybe. But a stern rebuke was in order, not a weak, laughing response.

Those who can.. do.
Those who can’t.. teach.
Those with no appreciable cranial activity.. become the “media.”

College entrance test scores bear this out as well. Students in the sciences tend to have the highest overall SAT and ACT scores.
School of Education students are a bit below the average.
The lowest scores are almost always found in the School of Journalism.

I’m inclined to cut Mrs Bush some slack here - G-d knows if I was asked a question that stupid I’d have to reboot my brain from the shock. Still, it would have been nice if she had replied more forcefully.

To save America, do freedom loving Americans have to shove a boot up a commie's ***?

I suspect CNN would find your question offensive - - they have groups they 'like' and groups they don't... Communists are a thumbs up group.

Would Erin have said the same thing if Samir Ibrahim had instead been sending out anti-homosexual and racist tweets?

ROTFLMAO - CNN would NEVER do that. THEY have standards! Trashing Jews and Conservatives is just with them - jim dandy stuff - but that's as far as it goes...

Should we “accept” homophobia and anti-women “when we want to make change” in the Middle East?

I adored mama Bush for the longest time, until she started her snipping at Sarah Palin. I found it surprisingly catty and beneath her.

Laura Bush Says Republicans ‘Frightened’ Women

The only candidate who frightened me was on the other side. Which candidate did Laura vote for?

Everyone is anti-something, it’s human nature.

Put me down as anti-Laura who's true colors are showing more and more.

Laura Bush’s answer wasn’t very strong, according to this article. I loathe feminism in every way, shape and form; there is no reason why “women” as a class need “supporting”. How about stopping FMG, Mrs Bush??? Since something like 97% of all Egyptian women are so mutilated, how about bringing THAT up?
