Soumaya, née Aphrodite, is one of a wave of tens of thousands of Westerners who convert to Islam every year, more than 75 percent of whom, astonishingly, are women. Equally surprising is the fact that most of these women gravitate to conservative Islamic groups – the more misogynistic and oppressive ones – insisting all the while that they feel “liberated” and “free.”
Reading through dozens of stories of such women, one can’t help but notice the similarities among them. All claim to have embraced Islam of their own free will; yet an overwhelming majority, like Soumaya (whose story was profiled in the Dutch newspaper Het Parool), converted only after dating (or wedding) a Muslim man, usually – interestingly enough – a Moroccan (even in countries like England, where Moroccans do not form the majority Muslim population).

My guess is they are looking for a “daddy” (father figure or “alpha male” if you will) to guide them and/or looking for some religion and way of life as a crutch to keep them on the straight and narrow.

I'm starting to wonder why men ever gave women the vote. And I'm a woman.
Women are the weak link emotionally and physically. If given the option of permanent protection where they don’t have to work, they will take it. It is no different than a woman who nags her husband to make more money, etc. while she stays at home eating chocolate and watching oprah. That was the norm for our culture for centuries. It no longer is. So women are naturally searching for it. Unfortunately, Islam provides the ‘perception’ of such but in reality it is much darker. Woe be to those women, may The Lord watch over them and open their eyes before it is too late.
I read an article about this a few years back and the author stated that once you embrace Islam, you no longer have to think for yourself. Every thing in your life is decided for you.
She stated this was the reason why women converted, you no longer have the responsibility of thinking for yourself.
I guess some women like that.

My one and only extended “up close and personal” brush with The Religion of Peace occurred during a 4 day visit to Dubai.I was amazed by how many women I saw that were covered from head to toe...many even covering their *entire* face except for thinner material over the eyes allow the woman to see (presumably).At a mall a family (man,woman and a couple of kids) sat next to me at a MacDonalds and I was wondering how the woman,*completely* covered,was going to eat.It turns out that when food was about to be consumed she lifted the fork to her mouth and flipped up a flap thus “exposing” her mouth for a *fraction* of a second,allowing the food to go in.I find that to be,in a way,very symbolic of just how inconsequential women are to believers in the ROP.
They can’t handle God-given free will-that’s what leftist thinking has done to people-gave them “total liberty”, no societal constraints, no legal ones, nothing-but it’s too much for people-so they turn to the places where all their decisions are made and there are steep consequences here on earth for them-because people can no longer handle self-responsibility at the same time as not believing in eternal consequence.
