What if the contest over the future of the GOP is not between Tea Party ideologues and moderate establishment-types?
What if the real contest is between Republicans who care about winning elections and profiteers who care about making consulting fees off the political process?

Firstly, Juan makes no sense (but we knew he's an idiot already).
Second, ‘consultants’ help republicans ‘win elections’, they are on the same side.
Third, Juan implied ‘Tea Party’ type don't care about winning elections, because they have never gotten any of their candidates cross the finish lines. (yeah, sure, whatev!)
FO NPR. Fag ...
Agree!
Very good points. But its the no names, behind the scenes “consultants” that drive the bus! More and more it seems Rs..especially the Senators just follow a script!
I hope folks are calling and emailing!
Steve Schmidt, Stuart Stevens, Ed Rollins, Matt Rhoades, Karl Rove, on and on.
You run your candidate as a moderate and when he loses you blame the right wing.
The next election comes and you run your candidate as a moderate....
Do you mean the pimps of the election industry, including Affirmative Action Monument Juan Williams?
once the state pols go federal they will turn on you in a heartbeat.
Thanks for posting this.
The no names are internation banking interests. They have lots of money and buy influence.
I experienced a “eureka!” moment after viewing the DVD The Money Masters, as it explained how international financiers have been controlling our government since shortly after the end of the Civil War.
They own our politicians - all of them, except for the very new ones, such as Rep.Ted Cruz and Sen.Rand Paul.
“Losing elections is not a viable business strategy for a consultant.”
True, but it is if you are getting paid big bucks by someone else to lose the election.
True, but my point is that you get hired for the next election because you win, not lose. Very few people run around proudly touting their losing record as a way of getting new business.
I should probably have said, “long-term business strategy” to make my thought clear.
Under normal, competitive political environments what you said would be correct.
We no longer have true competition between Democrats and Republicans.
Agree, but on the other hand, we have the horse's ass, old-guard, status quo, has-beens like McCain and Graham who try to knock down the new guys at every turn. Sad.
Consultants have used a divide and conquer strategy in the republican party for at least the last thirty years.
old, crusty, and mouldy
Did you sleep right through the elections of 2012, 2008, 2006, 1998, 1996, 1992 ... etc, etc?
My bad, I should have said
“Consultants attempted to help .....” but they are still on the same side.
The old GOPe Guard will not beat the likes of Cruz.
Nor any old libitch from SF.
