SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN (D-CA): No, no if it's an amendment, that is not a symbolic vote. I did the bill in 1994 on the floor as an amendment, it enacted a law. It went on to the House, it was enacted.

Slimestein should have known her bill was never going to get the floor for a vote. I am shocked it got voted out of committee.

Could still be covered in UN small arms treaty being pushed

If they can't get 50 votes for it on the floor of the Senate, there is no way they can get 66 votes to approve it in a treaty.

Good point,

she was so over the top with her rhetoric...made it the focus, as they continue to advance UN treaty.

“red herring to make a “compromise” bill sail through.”

I was on a telephone town hall meeting yesterday with my congressman. Here’s a direct quote from him that I jotted down:

“The president’s policies are geared towards taking guns out of the hands of ordinary citizens.” Paul Broun (R-GA)

Legend is that “the finger” originated with archers who had not been disarmed by having their finger removed. Might be very appropriate.

I can imagine the way this thing went down....Boehner, Reid, Obama with their little goons McCain and Graham and CPAC operatives blessing all agree to let amnesty slide through if the dems back off the assault weapon ban for it. We keep searching for logic, and it’s all about back room deals.

No treaty can diminish the fundamental constitutional rights of individuals. Heller make it an individual right, and McDonald’s incorporates it to the states. A treaty based gun ban is not happening. I am on my droid and don’t have access to the case law I dug up for an earlier thread on this, but the principle has been established. The best they can hope for is to attack international trade related to guns, etc. But internally, huffing and puffing about using treaty law to justify domestic bans, confiscation, etc., is just blowing smoke. Not saying it won’t be used to mislead people, even legislators, but it has no legal teeth.

No word from gabby yet but I fully expect mr. mark kelley-giffords to speak up. Right after he turns his newly acquired AR into the Tucson PD. He should also turn in his Navy uniforms as well, as he is not fit to soil them. I guess he forgot that silly oath he took back when.

All things being equal, they’d like to get the AWB Mag limits, etc., but they’re going in here with one endgame: universal background checks. Buried deep in that bill will be establishment of a national registry. This is just confiscation not yet executed.

The next question for that rep is

“Are you at all curious about what the president intends to do after all citizens are disarmed that he doesn’t think he can do before they are disarmed?”

I think the American people have said in every single public poll that they support this kind of legislation. It's aimed to protect children, to protect schools and malls.

Wrong on all points, DiFI!

It's for your inflated ego and your mistaken view of a desirable legacy.

She’s just selling it. She knew it wasn’t going to get added into the main bill.

As long as people are looking at this, they won’t notice the massive infringements in the main bill.

We assume the D’s are stupid. That they won in November should forever destroy that opinion. The D’s have set brand new lows for what it takes for a D to win the office of President. Axelrod is a genius.

This is kabuki theater.

They still are going to vote on 2 different types of bans
