Treaties, even if ratified, do not trump the Constitution.

Analysis of why it never seems to make a difference:

I’d double check that...

There are those, even on the right (like Michael Farris) that state that a treaty has the amendment-like authority.

All DIM/LIBs lie. All DIM/LIBs deserve to be in prison. All DIM/LIBs are mentally compromised. All DIM/LIBs and their families should be shunned. ALL.

Many are saying that this will never happen here, but Obama through the Fed and big banks have already stolen millions of dollars from senior citizens who have Certificate of Deposit (CD)savings accounts which have received no interest due to the policies of Obama and the Democrats.

These millions of seniors were expecting to live off of the savings rate interest in retirement, but now they are draining away all of their hard earned savings just to live day to day.

Letter: Zero-interest policy by Federal Reserve is war on America’s seniors

Friday, March 15, 2013

Don W. Edwards, Hobe Sound

Letter: Zero-interest policy by Fed is war on America’s seniors

The fiscal crisis (the bursting of the housing bubble) has allowed the Federal Reserve to begin its epic cutting of the interest rates from 5.7 percent in 2007, effectively to zero in 2008, and has remained there ever since — and as a result, there has been a catastrophic shortfall of retirement savings in America ever since.

There may be many other causes, but mainly it is a liberal political policy that is very hostile to investment. This zero-interest policy engineered by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and his majesty, our president, offers retirees and near-retirees no interest on savings held in their bank accounts, Treasury bills, or money market funds — thus pulling money out of the pockets of millions or senior retirees.

The rationale for this anti-senior policy was a political policy spurred by Barack Obama to get re-elected, to keep unemployment low and to spur our economy.

By many measures these liberal policies have failed to achieve its goals, and our U.S. economy is worse off when compared to any normal interest rate environment.

So, the victims of these failed policies are retirees, who are penalized for doing everything right. They worked and saved their money, stayed out of debt and now are punished by these politically inspired zero interest rates.

America is ready and willing to provide its savings to fuel investment and growth — all they ask is for a stable currency, positive returns and a friendlier investment climate by this administration.

These failed policies of money printing and zero returns are anathema to investment and growth.

Until this war on savers by Obama is ended, income security for retirees will be an illusion.

Just be advised, whether it gets through or not, the real goal is at the states level... See NY, NJ, Colorado etc.

Plus...the UN Small Arms treaty is back again, and Jughead is counting on the Senate to ratify and force international law on us that way.

This fight is far from over. It’s just beginning.

Glenn Beck has explained that this, (as in The Overton Window), is nothing more than a tactic used by the Left to shift the public a little at a time to agreeing to later full control by the government.

Some conservatives are saying that; “Whew, we dodged the bullet, etc.” But this is nothing more than the Left demanding everything at the outset, knowing that the people will be glad to accept just a little control and will eventually be pushed into accepting more control by the government a little at a time.

Good description on this thread:

The United Nations started their small arms conference MONDAY. (as in the monday that just passed).

That UN treaty will do even more than the AWB as a treaty can BYPASS the second amendment.

keep alert folks.

be vigilant.

the gloating bait is a distraction!

Typical the way the media is portraying this, twice I have heard that it was dropped because they couldn’t get the 60 votes needed to stop a republican filibuster; no mention that they couldn’t even get 50 dim votes…all the republican’s fault according to MSM.

I believe this is already settled law. I remember in the last few years reading it right here on FR.

I’m not worried about it in the least. Worse comes to worse, if they ever try to confiscate my firearms I already am prepared to do what is necessary.

No way is he gonna let his 2014 candidates record a vote on that legislation.

Why not? Reid doesn't want the AWB. He'll let her bring it as an amendment, where it will lose, and all of his candidates from red states can cast no votes. Then he can bring the legislation he wants and then those candidates have cover for voting for it because they voted no on AWB.

“yikes I think I will go blind or turn to stone as I looked at that image. What was that THING? Medusa? Jabba the Hut?”

I think she must have her hair “done” at the Senate Barber Shop! She’s had that Star Wars character hairdo since she was mayor of Sf. Can you say Wookie?

Yup. It's all street theater for the masses. Good cop/bad cop sidewalk act.

I'm sure that after these fake spats they all get together on Friday afternoon, pour themselves glasses of 50 year old Scotch and laugh their asses off over how gullible the folks back home are.

I want this to be true but I don’t buy it.
I see nothing but smoke and mirrors.
‘Oh no, we’re not going to put this bill to a vote.’
“I’m so angry at him.” “I’m really upset.”
Meanwhile, a little bill that nobody is paying any attention slides by and guess what? Buried deep in it is a comment about the ‘possession, sale, transfer’ of this or that gun.
They will never stop. The only way to stop them is to keep enough of them out of power.
