How quickly we betray You. In one moment we praise You, and seek Your saving graces. In the next moment, we forget You---we turn our backs and flee from You instead of drawing closer to You. Holy God, You are forever to be praised! Never should a day go by upon this earth that Your Name is not exalted and glorified, blessed and honored. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Your glory above all the earth.
Father, may the peace that passes all understanding dwell in the hearts and minds of our military men and women. Give them help from trouble, for You are He who shall tread down their enemies. Draw them to that secret place of the Most High so that they may abide under Your shadow there.
Our prayers are lifted up on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Israel, Lord. Keep them as the apple of Your eye. Hide them in the shelter of Your wings. May our government leaders support them, and may Your people continue to hold this nation up in prayer.
Oh that men would give thanks to You, Lord for Your goodness, and for Your wonderful works to the children of men! For You satisfy the longing soul, and fill the hungry soul with goodness. We rejoice in this Holy Week, for we know that the celebration of the finished work of the Cross and the Resurrected Lord is near. Oh how we thank You, our God! We pray this in the Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A call to prayer during this Holy Week.
A call to prayer during this Holy Week.
Hear our prayers for our nation, our troops and Israel. Help us to trust in You alone. May we bless You with our lives. Amen.
As I started up my car in the dark hours of early morning, I noticed a seatbelt light on the dashboard. I checked my door, opening and pulling it shut again. I tugged on my seatbelt to test it. But the sensor light still beamed. Then, in slow realization, I reached over and lifted my purse a few inches above the passenger seat. The light clicked off.
Apparently, a cell phone, three rolls of quarters, a hardcover book, and my lunch stuffed in my very large purse had equaled the weight of a small passenger, thus setting off the sensor!
While I can easily empty out a handbag, other weights are not so easy to shed. Those burdens of life involve a heaviness of spirit.
Whether the burden that weighs us down is one of guilt such as the one that consumed Davids thoughts (Ps. 32:1-6), the fear Peter experienced (Matt. 26:20-35), or the doubt Thomas carried (John 20:24-29), Jesus has invited us to bring them all to Him: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28).
We are not built to bear burdens alone. When we cast them on the One who wants to bear our burdens (Ps. 68:19; 1 Peter 5:7), He replaces them with forgiveness, healing, and restoration. No burden is too heavy for Him.
Read: Psalm 32:1-6; Matthew 11:28-30
Amen.
