Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who has emerged as the key advocate for secure borders, keeping to the rules and an organized handling of the millions of illegal aliens now inside the United States says there is a clear goal that Americans should have for the newcomers: Make them taxpayers.
“What I’m saying is let’s get them work visas, normalize them, tax them, make them taxpayers,” the senator said in an exclusive interview with WND reporter Taylor Rose.

“You can’t have open borders and be a welfare state,” he warned. The solution is a secure border – and a process where someone on a work visa doesn’t get welfare, or someone with a green card doesn’t get welfare.
Paul said there are glitches, too, in America’s social services. There shouldn’t be 60,000 new people on the roles of the disabled every month, he said. In other words, America’s safety net sometimes is just too generous.
The reasons some Americans won’t work for the $8 per hour for an agricultural field worker, for example, is that they would rather do nothing and collect higher government benefits, he said.

All they have to do for that government largess is vote Democrat. A lesson the legalized $8/hr legalized immigrants will quickly learn. Then who will do the work?
Rand is dead right as usual.
Once they are “normalized”, they aren’t going to work for $8 bucks an hour anymore. Once they are on the freeway to “citizenship”, the next stop is the union thug’s office.
The $4 an hour illegal immigrants, of course.

That’s why proper immigration reform won’t happen or some stupid version of it will: The unions (Dem paymasters) want to protect their racket.

He sure didn’t say this in front of that Hispanic group where he said he never met an immigrant who wanted a handout, and illegals are natural conservatives.

EIGHT DOLLARS AN HOUR! I remember working picking beans in the hot hot summer for one cent a pound! On a good day after a rain I could make $5.00 a day! When the weather was dry we got about $2.80 a day even though we picked the same amount of beans.
But then, there was NO WELFARE back then.
Until he drops the other shoe regarding granting amnesty to illegal aliens to do the job.

Rand is wrong on a “secure” border.
The US/Mexico Border is 2,000 miles long with few intersecting roads and mostly desert.
Make the USA as hostile as possible by enforcing existing Border Laws, and fining US employers $1,000 per day per illegal alien hired.
The Arpaio Desert Prison Model would be perfect to hold all captured border law breakers for the Federally required 6 months.
BTW, Sheriff Joe Arpaio claims that he feeds his prisoners for 22 cents a day.
I know people that use their Disability money to supplement their $10/hr, full time cash job.
