A Canadian mother says her late daughter never recovered from an alleged rape by four teenage boys that left her deeply depressed and bullied.
Leah Parsons on Tuesday said she took her 17-year-old daughter, Rehtaeh, off life-support on Sunday after she attempted suicide last week.
She says one boy took a photo of the alleged assault in 2011 and her daughter was subjected to bullying after it went viral.
Parsons is dissatisfied that police concluded there were no grounds to charge the four boys ...

I suspect that Canada will take the Swedish approach to rape prevention and tell their women to dress more modestly...
or at least hire someone to do it.
Good point, it's the 21st century. It's a shame she killed herself rather than the rapists. She knew the facts and would have had no doubts on their guilt. Too bad there's an ammo shortage and too many gun restrictions.
Had the rapists been white middle or upper class, then we would know about it, well low class should not be excluded either.
So sad there is no justice, for this girl and her family.
Right-O.
Official lack of identity of the evil rapist proves there is something they want to hide.
Yup. And back in those “bad old days”, boys would have been mortally fearful of pissing off such a father in the first place, and kept their hands off a girl.
I remember quite a few fathers who happened to be cleaning the shotgun when I picked up their daughters. I wasn’t even a bad kid, that was just standard procedure.
Possibly, but being from Nova Scotia myself, I think this is more likely:
Cole Harbour High School's catchment covers North Preston, Cherrybrook, Lake Loon and New Road, whose predominant population is black, and has been for more than 200 years.
Cole Harbour High appears in the news in Nova Scotia every so often whenever fights break out between black and white students.
I am not surprised that the race of the boys who raped Rehteah Parsons has not been disclosed, given where it happened.
We will defend our children.
We had an incident in our small town school one time where a boy was being bullied by 3 ner’ do wells and a couple of times he was assaulted and several incidences of public humiliation. This went on for a month or so as recounted by my son (not the victim or perpetrator). Mysteriously one day two of the bullies showed up to school bruised and with shaved heads. It seems a couple of the good boys from the football team took an interest in the situation on their own accord and arranged and after school meeting of the minds with the bullies (again as recounted by my son). The young man was never touched or taunted again and bullying all but dried up in our school for several years.
Edmund Burke’s alleged quote, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing” came to mind and I had recited it to my son(s) on many occasion. We need more good men to step up today.
“Too bad theyre not hunted down and eliminated by a masked avenger.”
Anonymous, the computer hacking group, has said it will release their names if no justice is brought.
Unintended double-negative?
The way I read the article, this girls death IS going unavenged.
And where is Dad? I would not let this slide. There would be nowhere these scum could hide.
Me as well. My high school sweetheart lived with her aunt and uncle. Her uncle would always be cleaning his .38 Colt revolver in the kitchen whenever I picked her up for a date.
I dunna think the laddie liked me much.
Not that I cared. She was worth it.
I never saw a revolver, but that must be a geographic difference. It was always a shotgun, and the fathers always looked far more comfortable with the gun than with me.
“Had the rapists been white middle or upper class, then we would know about it, “
I dunno. Back in my day those were exactly the guys whose daddies helped them get away with it.
Just names?? Include photos and street addresses too. I mean if it is allowed to post all the same info for lawful concealed carry holders, "surely" rapists are worthy of the same treatment.
Amen Brother: Yes an unintended double negative. Sory.
Dreadful. RIP.
Like the media uproar over the rape/murder of Channon Christian?
