Fort Bragg is canceling its July 4th celebration because of budget cuts and worker furloughs.

The event - a tradition for more than 30 years - usually attracts 50,000 people and includes what many people believe to be among the best fireworks shows in the region.

"Our reduced operating budget for the remainder of this year forces many very tough decisions," said Lt. Gen. Daniel B. Allyn, commanding general of 18th Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg

But of course, Obama will be on vacation on the 4th and spending our money most likely OUT of the country.

Once again, the obozo interpretation of Sequestration cuts small programs that are enjoyed by many while keeping useless institutions like the NEA (both versions) and the EPA and sending money and weapons to our enemies.

This is the most petty administration ever. Like a 3 YO that throws a tantrum when things don’t go his way.

To put it in perspective, via http://www.drudgereport.com, big sis ordered bagpipes. as in, many: https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=e88c2e9359bae4024a562dba260a75f8&tab=core&_cview=1

SHEESH! just like that, sure enough, not only was it cancelled, but the order for MULTIPLE BAGPIPSESESESES has disappeared. Am trying to get it to post for posterity (couldn’t find it posted to FR yet).

This is not OT, it is very much a display of their arrogance and lack of perspective on the seriousness of our situation.

FR does not disappoint, the article even had the keyword “bagpipe” — referencing janet, no doubt:

It figures. I’ve noticed that the anointed one doesn’t bother much with days that are about national pride. Maybe it’s because he has no pride in this country and does everything he can to tear it down.

Well, when far too many people don’t give a damn about the Constitution and its natural born citizen requirement for the office, this is the kind of crap we can expect.

No 4th of July celebrations which commemorate the founding spirit of the USA? This smacks of implication that the time and foundation of this Nation is of little if any significance. I have been thinking about what might show up publicly for the 4th and now there is an answer, only I expected it to be from Washington D.C. and by Obama not some military base commander. It doesn’t take much wondering these days to catch where and by whom the Nation is losing It’s founding compass.

I’m sure the black history, gay sensitivity training, and hispanic appreciation day will be fully funded. Will there be e mails from michelle to the troops asking them to contribute to do something special for barack on his birthday to show him how much they love and appreciate him?

Not really a big deal. Back on the 4th of July, 1969, at Camp Lejeune, I had the honor of firing a salute (17 guns?) using the two naval guns secured in front of the CG's HQ.
There were no parades, no ceremonies, no celebrations. We raised the flag at 0800, we fired the salute, and we went on with our day thankful to be free Americans.
