Congressional district majority voting remains one sure way to weaken the Democrats’ hold on the Electoral College...

--snip--

If just the six states of Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, which now have Republican legislatures and governors, had switched for 2012 to choosing presidential electors by congressional district majorities, rather than by statewide majorities, Mitt Romney rather than Barack Obama would be president today. In California, the change can be made by public vote through the Initiative process. That would have produced more electoral votes for the Republican ticket in 2012 as well.

That change has a chance to win by public vote in California, and be adopted in other less Republican areas elsewhere as well, because the people there, and all across America, are tired of the presidential campaigns only being held in a handful of “battleground” states. If the presidential electors are chosen by congressional district majorities instead of statewide majorities, presidential campaigns would again be conducted nationwide, reopening our democracy to everyone.

There is no opportunity for Democrat-controlled states to retaliate by switching to congressional district majority voting as well. Democrat-controlled states would likely produce a Democrat statewide majority in presidential elections. But the electoral vote from any Republican congressional district in such states would probably go for the Republican presidential candidate under congressional district majority voting. That would produce some electoral votes for the Republican candidate in such Democrat-controlled states, while the Republican candidate would receive no electoral votes from those states under the current statewide majority voting system. The switch to determining presidential electoral votes by congressional district would always on net favor Republicans because it would take away the power of the more uniform Democrat vote concentrated in urban areas to determine the presidential vote for their entire states, rather than just for...

If congressional district majority voting is not taken seriously by the GOP, then it is not a serious national party, and it should be treated accordingly.

We will need a new party as they are not really serious about urban voter fraud.

All the arguments for Voter ID laws are just cover for minority disenfranchisement thanks to the BS media.

Presidential electoral vote changes supported by delegates at Michigan Republican Party convention

Delegates at the Republican state convention, approved the resolution supporting the change by a 1,370 to 132 vote.

Helloooooo! We won the last election rather handily . . . ever hear of voter fraud? ever hear of the stupid party trying to stop voter fraud? No? Neither have I.

We'll never win the big picture as long as voter fraud continues . . . we'll have libtard generated candidates like Romney, even though NONE OF US WANTED HIM . . . unless we can control voter fraud.

It’s rather simplistic to do “what-if” scenarios to go to district majority voting for only the states the GOP lost.

If Michigan changes to a by district electoral allocation, it won’t matter how many votes they manufacture in Detroit because they’ll still get one electoral vote.

yep, a national electoral college vote - broken down by cong district, or even county, etc, would be a stunning change.

It wouldn’t guarantee a GOP win in Michigan every time but it would give us a fighting chance.

I wish we could do the same for senate races.

It would instantly wipe out the full 16 EV going to the Dems.....at the very least.

Even if the democrat Won, they would only get the electoral votes from the district they won.

The northern blue district is kind of deceptive. It contains Flint and Saginaw but the northern half of it is full of conservatives who were needed to make up the numbers.

What gave you that idea?

"That change has a chance to win by public vote in California, and be adopted in other less Republican areas elsewhere as well, because the people there, and all across America, are tired of the presidential campaigns only being held in a handful of “battleground” states. This is at least a twofor. It re-nationalizes elections away from battleground states, and it confines urban voter fraud to congressional districts.

The best part is that the conservative grassroots has been growing in power.

Good points. I’m not opposed, just suspicious of unrealistic scenarios to make the case.
