Last Christmas many Dick’s customers were sent one mean lump of coal in the form of a gift certificate. All customers who pre-ordered a Troy Carbine from Dick’s for their Black Friday special had their orders cancelled and their money returned.
Following the Newtown shooting spree, Dick’s Sporting Goods changed their policy and stopped selling AR-pattern and other semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifles, even the guns they had already sold.
If there’s a silver lining for all the people who were eagerly waiting for that Troy Carbine and were vastly dissappointed, it’s that Dick’s isn’t doing so well in the financial department.
At a time where the only thing a company has to do to sell firearms, ammo and accessories is to unlock their doors, Dick’s sales have flat-lined. In fact, their sales dropped 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to 2011 and their shares 10 percent in the last quarter.

The fact that they stopped selling the very guns that they had already sold. The CEO should get a big raise.

Cabala’s and locally owned Mills Fleet Farm both just opened large gun only stores. Fleet farm even put in a huge indoor range.
I go to Fleet Farm where the sign on the door says CC permit holders and their weapons are welcome!

The Knoxville store lost my business when the snotty little clerk proudly informed me they’ve never stocked ammunition in that store.

Went to Dicks a few years ago and was interested in looking at a Marlin 795 but the clerk wouldnt remove the trigger lock so I could test the trigger. Asked to speak to the manager who said it was store policy. He admitted the policy was stupid but wouldnt risk his job. Needless to say I didnt buy from them.
Will Dicks Sporting Goods go out of Business soon?

Dick’s is opening a new store here at Lake of the Ozarks.
Guess we’re lucky here in the Panhandle of Texas..... Never seen that franchise here. Don’t like big box franchises myself. I will pay extra to shop mom and pop locally owned stores when possible....
