I don't claim to understand it, but in England at that time, males (upper class) had homosexual relationships in high school, then went on to be "normal" heterosexual men afterwards. While the fact remains that Ferguson apologized for his comments due to possible well intentioned motivations that could exist and his criticism based on the perceived sexuality of Keynes, the general point he made stands.
