CURL: Watch out for Petraeus in Benghazi scandal
Washington Times ^ | May 12, 2013 | Joseph Curl

Make no mistake: Benghazi is a major scandal. Benghazi is a scandal before, during and after the terrorist attack that left four Americas dead, including an ambassador.

For months before, there were warnings about weak security at the U.S. Consulate in Libya; no one paid attention. During the attack, when Americans were begging for help, the White House ignored their pleas, sent no help.

And after? That's when the Obama scandal falls into the predictable second-term pattern his predecessors all learned the very hard way. Faced with a crisis, the Obama White House panicked. "We can't have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day, so ... let's not have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day." Cue the Cover-Up.

*********

Despite protestations by the White House, this scandal is just beginning. And the White House has picked a very bad scapegoat: the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA follows RFK's edict: "Don't get mad, get even." And when the CIA gets even, it isn't pretty.

With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration. Mad and intent on getting even, he's already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were "useless" and that he preferred not to use them at all. The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.

Excerpt:

// Carnival barker Jay Carney looked almost ashen Friday as he took the podium to face a suddenly invigorated press corps. Of course, the public briefing came after a private session with “reporters who matter,” a sure sign the White House is in full hunker-down mode — and, more precisely, terrified. //

Exactly who are these 14 individuals?!?!? This needs to be public. They need to forever have an asteric next to their names.

I'm old enough to remember when fins on cars came out.

When cars had no seat belts, steel dashboards, side vent windows, and an ashtray that would hold a carton of cigarettes.

One difference is the Obama is no Bill Clinton. Bill is a good ‘ol boy who is able to seduce the MSM. Obama is incoherent if he's not reading from a TelePrompTer. Can you imagine Obama being interrogated by Congress...under oath?

The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.

For two full weekends before the election, I stood on a busy street corner that had about 5,000-7,000 vehicles pass through it daily. I had a HUGE sign that read:

Obama Lied
American's Died
In Libya

Perhaps 300 cars honked their approval and gave a thumbs up for the sign. Another 300 or so gave me the finger, yelled out their windows "Obama rules!" or called me a racist. The rest pretty much ignored me or didn't indicate their approval/disapproval one way or another.

Yesterday (Mothers Day) pretty much the same thing. Took the sign out of my garage (which is on a 4' x 4' sheet of plywood screwed to a 10' 2x4) and got much the same results.

I still don't think people are paying attention. It'll be an interesting experiment this weekend to take that same sign out to the same intersection and see what reaction I get if this scandal is full-blown on Friday.

It’ll only get worse for Obama if the people care about the scandal. So far, no one cares. It’s not the crime that matters, it’s the reaction to the crime. So far......no reaction....no problem for Obama.

Please be patient. There is a drip, drip process that must be exercised to get all the information out. One bit of info produces another person coming forward to protect their ass one step at a time. Nobody is coming forward unless they absolutely have to to protect their means of income because they can not get a job anywhere else. It has to be a move of last resort to get them to come forward because they suddenly realize it is either their job or an orange jumpsuit.

Stop watching the local news. They are just news readers and the bobblehead street reporters aren’t smart enough to keep from locking themselves in a car trunk while demonstrating to the rubes who watch local news understand what locking one’s self in a trunk means. Because they honestly believe the average person has no idea.

I went to a station to get some info on a storm in the area and actually saw this. There was also another reporter doing a story on the ports in Jacksonville. The crew went out on a john boat to do the story. In her stupid vanity, took off her life vest so she looked good on camera, fell out of the boat and drowned.

Monicagate....fizzle.
Fitzmas.......fizzle.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Benghazi doing much more. Probably just another flash in the pan.

...With Trey Gowdy doing ALL the questioning. That'd be one fine sight to see.

I’m not very confident that anything will come of this. Nor, do I believe that it will have any significant negative effect on Hillary’s run for president. When the Lewinsky scandal first broke I remember Sam Donaldson speculating that Clinton might resign the next day. But, we soon came to realize that Democrats/Liberals have no shame. They are willing to ride out any scandal. And, their low information supporters will continue to vote for them - so they will continue to get their stuff....

I agree with you. During the Clinton years, we kept hearing that the scandal surrounding him was reaching a critical mass, and how the next revealation would be the tipping point that brought down the Clinton presidency. We all know how that turned out.

I stopped holding Gen. David H. Petraeus in high esteem after he teamed up with the dark lord.

Here is a once good, maybe great, General who was called Betrayus by the democrats yet he left the military to join the very people who were attacking him.

Couple this with his following his peter rather than his brain, I guess he was never the brilliant man I thought he was.

Petraeus is dangerous and wounded. He is ex-CIA and ex-four star general. He has methods and means. He will not be thrown under the bus again.

Obama's got the goods on Petraeus - my guess is the little sex scandal isn't the half of it... Petraeus and the CIA cower before Obama thugs... that's not going to change.
