At least the shrimp might be learning something as opposed to liberals who never seem to learn anything.

This is the lower corner of the Thumb of MI. Rural america better get ready.

Schools Administrators should not pay well. Should not have great insurance.

Schools should be private.

The teachers should be Contractors.

There should not be $30million dollar stadiums for high school kids.

You could eliminate 90% of the employees in school administration and not miss a beat.

When kids don’t show up in school, the district doesn’t get the daily attendance money for that student. Minorities don’t show up, not even for the free food, and the school funding suffers.

If you put a little cocktail sauce behind them, they actually run.

But education isn't about the money or the school lunches, it's about the children. Those schools should just be open.

(lol)

In an effort to keep schools open, teachers said they would work without pay. This is not possible under Michigan law so educators have been left in limbo.

This is Obama’s America now; government doesn’t have to obey the law anymore. Let them teach if they want to.

I find it sickly amusing when LIB asshats have to face consequences. Bwahahahahahaaaa! Maybe someone should do as 10-year-back audit and arrest the scoundrels who squandered money from the taxpayers?

I can see your concern, but if you think parents are not educated enough, why would you think school teachers would be better? Most school teachers are themselves products of the dumbed down educational system, especially if they attended public schools and a public university for their degree.

When parents choose to direct their children’s learning, often they become educated in the process though what their children are learning. Then at high school levels, as I mentioned, there are all kinds of amazing online learning tools available now .. For example, Ron Paul’s new homeschool curriculum (partly designed by Gary North) has courses taught in economics by college professors in Austrian/Mises economic theory. - I had never heard of Austrian economics vs. Keynesian all the way through an electrical engineering degree in college - but learned through reading a lot the last 10 years, through Free Republic links, through my husband’s reading & learning, etc. Now I know it’s something I want my children to at least be exposed to in high school, even if they don’t completely understand it - they can get the basics so that when they listen to economic reports, or politicians making promises or blathering on, they will be able to see through to the reality of how things work.

And yes, a big part of that if you use a pretty classical approach, is the kids learn to research and learn and use logic to think for themselves.

I don’t think you are going to get that in your local public school.

Yes it takes some self discipline and dedication, I’m just saying I don’t think a lot of public school teachers have that desire to keep learning and growing themselves, from what I’ve seen. Not wanting to insult any public school teachers on FR, I’m sure if they are fans of FR they do want to learn and grow! I’m just saying, often parents/ especially moms, get challenged and become better educated themselves as a result of being actively involved in their kids’ education. Then you get a two for one positive benefit - for two separate generations. That’s something I’m very grateful for, from personal experience.

I just clicked on the yahoo link and it has a link to the specific budget that the school district published. The budget identifies a revenue of $8,175,134 and they carried over a little over a mil in deficit spending. Lets do the quick math:

$8,175,134 / 450 students = $18,166.96 per student

Yet, it is still “not enough!” If this is “not enough” then when will they ever have enough!

You would then risk losing your home. You and other permanent property owners are the only real primary source of money for these scumbags. And now you risk your home? I get your anger as it sounds nice, but not bursting at the seems with wisdom.

“Our county schools are faced with a similar problem.

Declining enrollment means bad news for a lot of teachers and administrators.”

It is not a problem at all. It is called variable costs and the product produced by schools is an educated student. If the market declines, then variable costs decline and therefore you need less of the labor cost input to variable costs. It is normal for any product or service.

The fact that government schools fail to react to market reality, is an admission that they have no interest in managing their costs and they have no interest in what they are supposed to be producing.

You are absolutely correct.

Illegals that have actual payroll jobs largely over claim on their dependents to the effect that they don’t really have to much of a federal or state tax. The only thing they can’t weasel out of is what everyone calls Payroll taxes (SS and Medicare). Many of these people don’t even file, unless it is a case where they feel comfortable enough (safe) that they can claim EITC.

There is nothing illegal about claiming withholding on dependents to the extent that your paycheck is maximized. You just have to be good at math and make sure what you owe doesn’t incur a penalty. They’ll whine at you but last time I checked it wasn’t against the rules.

I always felt the paperwork was redundant. They know how much you make and how much they take. If white folks started claiming more dependents they would not allow it. We have to pay for all our transgressions in making this a better world.
