Could the twin eruption of the Benghazi and IRS scandals over the past few days derail the Obama administration’s gun control agenda, despite the insistence of Vice President Joe Biden that at least four U.S. Senators are willing to revive gun regulation proposals on Capitol Hill?
On a political scale, it's a cataclysm on par with the Mount St. Helens eruption a generation ago. However, President Obama reportedly said Monday morning that the IRS revelation is an "outrage" and he called the Benghazi flap a "politicdal sideshow" according to a report in the Seatte Times. He wants the IRS abusers to be held accountable, just like he wanted those responsible for Operation Fast and Furious held to account.
After a weekend of political fireworks over last Friday’s news dump on the Internal Revenue Service’s admission that it had given additional scrutiny to conservative organizations – and this morning’s revelation that the effort could have begun as far back as 2010 – there is ample reason for gun rights advocates to speculate that administration energies will be sufficiently directed elsewhere to put gun control on the back burner.

It won’t matter if it does or not because astate afte4r state is rammign htrough their own gun unconstitutional gun laws until eventually msot states will have laws even tougher than dear leader’s bill
(1) Does Obama have a gun control agenda?
No, he was forced into it after the election by Democrats who said he had been re-elected and had nothing to loose, plus the opportunity of using the Sandi Hook Tragedy for political advantage. So No agenda.
(2) What little bit of “taste for gun control” in Congress sure got deep-sixed with the failure of all gun control measures even those that the Dems were absolutely certain would pass like universal background checks. So again, “no agenda” will see the light of day in Congress. That means there is nothing to derail.
(3) Finally there will be no political time nor media ink to waste on firing up the public on the need for “gun control” legislation. Roughly one-third of all House of Representative Committees are now ingaged in investigating wrongdoing by the President and his appointees. What little free time will be spent on the budget. There is no time for gun control.
I’m sure they lived in daily, quaking, butt-puckering fear that this crap may have broken out BEFORE the election.
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky (or up against a passive, disinterested opponent) than good.
“Gate” is out as a suffix. “Ghazi” is the new scandal suffix.
Nobody died at Watergate.
Obama’s gun control agenda kind of got derailed when it failed to pass the senate.

Lots of juicy stories in these scandals before the election.
It appears that their prime objective was to get President Obama re-elected.
This will derail the entire summer for this admin. I’ve bet anything, Obama is crossing his fingers Israel goes to war with Syria.
Only four or five states so far, and the trend is petering out. Plus, there’s already backlash against the legislatures in the states that did that. PLUS, there are other states liberalizing their gun laws, and/or passing laws intended to limit federal overreach on the issue.
