Defense Attorney: Prosecutors Racist, Gosnell Never Killed a Baby
Life News ^ | Steven Ertelt

In a press conference following the sentencing of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell, his attorney Jack McMahon insisted that the prosecution was racist and that the abortionist was no “monster.”

McMahon told reporters assembled outside the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center that Gosnell “truly believes in himself” and remains convinced that “he never killed a live baby.”

“Dr. Gosnell, he believes that what he did was not commit homicide,” he said.

“Nobody gave him a second chance,” McMahon said. “Dr. Gosnell is far from a monster, and this was not a house of horrors.”

“He wanted this case aired out in a courtroom and it got aired out in a courtroom in a fair way. And now he’s accepting what will happen. He’s an intelligent guy,” said McMahon, who said Gosnell would now plead to federal drug charges that are still pending.

The sentencing deal, reached after hours of terse negotiations Tuesday, spares Gosnell’s family the task of pleading for his life in court, McMahon said. Gosnell has six children, the youngest of them a teenager born to his third wife, who has also pleaded guilty in the case.

“He’s a proud man. To bring his young family into court was something he did not want to do,” McMahon said.

Outside the courthouse, McMahon continued to defend his client, telling reporters that “This was presented in the beginning as a house of horrors, a hideous place. That’s just not true.”

McMahon said never in his career has he seen “such a trampling of justice.”

“There wasn’t one single person anywhere, in the media, anywhere that ever gave him any type of second chance in this case. . .Nobody had the facts, everybody made their conclusions based on what they read in the papers or what the grand jury report said. . . .. The lynching by the media prior to the trial was definitely intense,” he said.

McMahon said he respects the jury’s verdict but “just because we respect it doesn’t mean that that’s the truth.”

He said Gosnell is “far from a monster” and that his client “believes what he did was not homicide.”

McMahon said Gosnell chose life in prison because of his children. “He (Gosnell) did not want to subject them to any more negativity.”

The Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams released a statement Wednesday afternoon calling the case “arguably the most gruesome” he’s seen.

“I will not mince words, Kermit Gosnell is a monster. Any doctor who cuts into the necks severing the spinal cords of living, breathing babies, who would survive with proper medical attention, is a murderer and a monster.”

Williams said Gosnell “knowingly and systematically mistreated female patients for years, which ultimately resulted in the tragic death of Karnamaya Mongar.”

Gosnell finished up the sentencing today with an odd statement. He thanked the judge for his nine-week trial and turned to defense attorney Jack McMahon and said, “Good job.”

“McMahon shook Gosnell’s hand and slapped him loudly on the back. And then he was gone, escorted through a side door to the elevators and prison holding cells under the city’s Criminal Justice Center,” reports say.

Good God,give it up man.We have heard enough excerpts of testimony to know what kind of a man your client is.

He can “believe” whatever he wants. That does not make it so.

If I shoot you because I believe you are an alien from Mars, that doesn’t get me off the hook unless it’s an insanity plea.

OK. What trial was this lawyer attending? If this assertion were true, why did the butcher stipulate to the punishment and waive all appeals? The dummie lawyer will just cash the check and go back to his office.

Well, if Deval Patrick doesn’t pan out to replace Eric Holder as AG, there’s always this guy.

The man agreed to life without parole and without an appeal.

With the way this slimy lawyer is talking, how long do you think the agreement not to appeal will last.

As long as Gosnell has a penny this shyster lawyer will be appealing.

Bet on it.

If what I’ve read in various reports is true, Gosnell is the racist. Apparently he segregated his customers, and treated black women worse than the others, in a filthier operating room. I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s what I read. And it wouldn’t surprise me.

As I understand it, too, a majority of the jury were pro-choice. And I presume that many of them were also black.

And, of course, many of the murdered babies were presumably black, too.

McMahon said Gosnell chose life in prison because of his children. “He (Gosnell) did not want to subject them to any more negativity.”

Whatever! Those would be the only children he ever tried to protect. He "chose" life which was never offered to his helpless victims. The other choice for him was death by injection. Regardless, he had a choice. The babies never did. He's a monster. If that makes me a racist, well so what. If he was white, he'd still be a monster.

There’s always the race card to fall back on when you have nothing else to show.
