Updated: Abducted girl’s mom chases down suspect (NM - 7-mile car chase)

The mother of a 5-year-old girl who was forced into a car by a would-be abductor chased the man for more than seven miles through the city, eventually ramming the suspect’s car to a halt and triggering a Wednesday night manhunt in Southeast Albuquerque.

Police said the incident developed around 6:30 p.m. in the North Valley when the suspect shoved the girl into his gray sedan. He pushed her out about half a block later along the 1700 block of Indian School NW. She was not injured.

When the girl’s mother saw her child being abducted, she jumped in her four-door Chevrolet sedan and chased him, not knowing at the time that the kidnapper had let the girl out of the car, Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

To trap the car, the mother performed what is commonly described as a pit maneuver.

The suspect is described as Native American or Hispanic and may be the same person who kidnapped a 6-year-old from the same area last week. That girl escaped from the car and reported being sexually assaulted.

The waiters gathered around my girlfriend at my table staring at her, with this idiotic smile on their faces, while we ordered, almost like I was not there.

I had to tell them “We are done ordering, you can LEAVE NOW” - it was freeaky. It was like they had never seen a woman before.

Nothing wrong with that! If she hadn’t given chase she old probably never seen her daughter again. They say it was a stranger abduction too; some of the hardest cases to crack without breaks or leads. Go mama!

The odds say you are correct, but the fact that she actually did something rather than wringing her hands and sitting in the corner in the fetal position moaning, gnashing her teeth, and waiting for someone else to do something says something for her.
