GOP ready to push Benghazi case into 2014, beyond ( Good!)

Military Response Questioned in Benghazi Attack

The latest Congressional hearing on the attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya focused on whether the U.S. military could have responded more quickly to end the assault. (May 8)

WASHINGTON (AP) — Steady drips of information about a horrific night in Libya are fueling Republican arguments and ads designed to fire up the conservative base and undercut the Democrats' early favorite for president in 2016.

Strategists in both parties disagree on the issue's power to influence elections next year and beyond. But after eight months of trying, Democrats are still struggling to move past the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi last Sept. 11 that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Democrats insist that an independent inquiry, the dismissal of several State Department officials, and nine congressional hearings leave little new to say on the matter. But Friday turned up the sort of nuggets that feed conservative activists' belief that a major scandal may be at hand.

Newly revealed communications show that senior State Department officials pressed for changes in the talking points that U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice used a few days after the Benghazi attacks. These senior officials expressed concerns that Congress might criticize the Obama administration for ignoring warnings of a growing threat in Libya.

Three points to winning elections:

(1) Register voters who are compatible with your philosophies

(2) Advertise why your candidates are great.

(3) Advertise why the other party's candidates are trashy no goods who murder people for their tennis shoes etc

Candidates who tell you the other guys are "OK" should be dropped from the ticket instantly lest they take your whole party down to defeat.

AP willing to defend this administration to the bitter end just as they defended the forged Bush National Guard memos and the Clinton “did not have sex with those women” meme.

Ready to push into 2014 and beyond...politics.

With Benghazi I don’t care if it helps or hurts Republicans. I just want the truth. If a party can be punished an ruined for truth, it just makes clear—this country is lost. It’s over and it is time to make the next decision. Bring on the truth and facts!

Oh for G-d's sake!!! I give not one good damn about the politics surrounding this issue. My concern is the cold-bloodedness with which the entire string of events ensued. The people who engineered this are treasonous criminals and murderers who should be hung, posthumously indicted, and convicted by a jury of their dead voters...TWICE.

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.

I don’t feel so well, but I get so angty. This is not about politics. It’s about American blood and treasure that no one seems to give a damn about.
How much American blood is too much? How many betrayals by our own government will we stand by for and do nothing?
How many flag draped, closed coffins must we count before we say not one more? Not ONE. Not for these barbarian murderers and not for comfortable and greedy, damnable politicians who sit in their taxpayer funded, interior decorated offices accepting bribes and kickbacks while our men and women get their arms and legs blown off defending their right to order their deaths?

Exactly. And the interesting thing is that by going after the truth, and punishing those responsible it will be also the best thing politically. But the politics should NOT be the goal at all. Let the chips fall where and when they may.

Could be ‘long game’, win back the Senate, hold joint investigation, expose gun-running to terrorists from Libya to Syria, Impeach.

Good insight ... if the republicants can even just barely take over the Senate, if impeachment reaaches them the momentum would be so great that even democrips would vote for removal too. This is not ‘just about sex’. This is about neglectful treachery!

I agree completely. The position of this Administration is summed up well by the Socialist Elijah Cummings—”death is part of life.” My experience is I have never met a Communist /nor a Muslim for that matter who cared about the lives of others-they have sold their soul to the devil for their cause.

I totally agree - forget the politics. Seek the truth and dispense justice instead.

Let heads role based on actions, not party labels.

It's been apparent for many, many years, but never more so than under Obama: many political figures have nothing but contempt for the truth. They want to win the argument. They will say anything, do anything. They need to triumph over their opponents 100% of the time, no matter what the truth may be.

A society of laws ceases to exist when people like that get into power.
