Author: Soviet agents subverted US in 1930s
The Daily Caller ^ | May 26, 2013 | Ginni Thomas

Posted on 05/26/2013 9:20:34 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Syndicated columnist Diana West says the ultimate conclusion of her new book shocked even her.

“Americans have been betrayed … by our leaders going back to FDR’s administration in the 1930s because we were penetrated by Soviet agents to such an extent that our policies and, indeed I argue, our character as a nation was subverted,” she explained in an interview with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas about her book, “American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character.”

“I don’t believe we won World War II,” West added. “I believe that we were actually carrying out Soviet strategy due to this penetration.”

West says that though the United States helped defeat Hitler’s Germany, Joseph Stalin used the war to enlarge the boundaries of his Soviet empire by taking half of Europe.

“You replace Hitler, one monster of totalitarianism, with an even larger totalitarian monster, who killed even more millions of people,” West said.

“How do we look at that and say, ‘we won, we’re great. Triumphial.’ It just doesn’t compute. And I think we have again been victimized by a tremendous, in effect, influence campaign.”

West started writing the book, which reads like a thriller, in 2009. Throughout her research of available historical documents, she tried to reconcile her findings with countless footnotes, memoirs, State Department records, out-of-print books, letters and revelations in files from the Venona archive and the Mitrokhin archives that became available after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.....

Unless people understand the WHOLE program that FDR and leftists put into place, they will continue to view him as a “good” man. This is why leftists are difficult to fight, in that they propose programs that do help some people for a limited time, but then go on to adopt ever increasing regulation, rules and laws that strangle liberty.

“However, within the context of this topic, consider the immediate period after the VE and VJ surrender signings.” But as this illustrates, there were surrender signings. We defeated Germany, Italy, and Japan—we did win. We can criticize FDR’s policy on issues such as Lend-Lease and Poland (and I would add his policy of supporting the Chinese Communists to that list) and we can expose the extent of Soviet subversion without the author resorting to making soundbytes like “I don’t believe we won World War II” that needlessly place an undue burden of proof on FDR’s critics. Other authors on this subject like John Earl Haynes and Harvey Klehr manage to make the point without saying things like this.

Yes, it is always busily at work subverting God’s people and plan.

It’s a circle which keeps repeating itself. Washington and the rebels kicked evils ass for a good amount of freedom and spreading of goodness, but it that was always in jeopardy. But Jesus will put an end to that circle ...coming to a theater near you soon!

The Italian campaign was a rewrite of Churchill’s original plan developed in concession to Soviet objections.

Germany was coming for Britain whether Poland fell or not, and the Soviets were waiting to swoop in when Germany fell. British troops did not save Poland; they did save Britain from the same fate.

Yes, I think within a few short years we will see Jesus physically come and he will finish the war, finally.

FDR’s Vice President Wallace ran as the candidate for the American communist party in 1952.

Even the Dems didn’t want him and replaced him with Truman for the 1944 election or Wallace would’ve been President.

If you read the history of the Magic intercepts, there was a lot bad going on with those of Japanese ancestry in the U.S. during the early days of WWII, and known interaction with Japanese military/intelligence.

In re: the “ovens” absolutely true, but several concentration camps with shootings, guillotining etc, and burial disposal, were in place and operational. This being true to the overall US policy in re: the “ovens”, the vast number of camps in operation and the nazi agenda of genocide. This agenda was for all in opposition to the socialist state of Hitler, of whom a majority were Jews, but included Gypsies, Catholics, Lutherans,Jews,Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, Maquis, Greeks, Cypriots, Hungarians, Romanians, etc.
Point taken on Wannsee dating, but long term US policy ignored Jews along with all the rest of the persecuted of the Nazis— it was not the priority and State was filled with snot nosed Eastern academe elitists who carried water for world socialism. And still do today.

My understanding is that the Soviets were holding American POWs they capture, er, “liberated” in eastern Germany. If we didn’t give them the Soviet POWs back, we wouldn’t have gotten back our POWs.

My Dad was in the 8th AF in '44/'45. If they were shot down, they were told to immediately find German troops and surrender. If German farmers found them, they'd butcher them. And if they fell into Soviet hands, they tended to disappear.

The manna for the Southern Democrats were the govt. programs that local demo fiefs controlled with “nice work if you can get it” govt. jobs-— the CCC, WPA, and many others. Hence FDR maintained his machine in the South.

The one thing I’ve always wondered about - if these conclusions are correct - and they basically correspond to my long held beliefs so I’ll accept them for the moment - then how to put the so-called “Venona Files” into perspective. If Russia/USSR has meant to co-opt us all along then are the Venona files what they purport to be or are they themselves a false flag? And if that is the case, do any of these conclusions change? House of Mirrors stuff.

I'll respect your opinion on: "While well-intentioned, these kind of books divert people away from the more complicated Soviet operations and American counter-intelligence operations that have taken decades to be declassified and released to the American public."

But will have to disagree. The book mentioned did not have the goal of wading into every aspect brought out in that statement. But on the financiers primarily, end of this horrible story.

For the rest of your response, I can only give you a positive thumbs up in total.
The NDCIC and NDCIT books where not written to be all encompassing.

I think the issue might not be whether the US should have gotten involved in WWII but the extent which we supported Russia. Perhaps we should have made the Russians bleed a lot more so we bled less?

Yes, but the only reason they did so well is that we were already arming them well before the US entered the war. Perhaps we should have let them bleed some more. Why the hell did we go to war with an ally like Russia?

Not sure. Why did the British even bother to defend their island just to hand the land over to people that kill them in their own streets. *shrug* As evil as the Nazi’s were I don’t think they intended to actually replace the native people with third worlders like the Labor Party has done.

Can't disagree with you there. As much as the British hate the French Revolution and the terror it unleashed, the British now have their own version of the Committee on Public Safety, operating to protect Moslems from “hate”. Off-topic I guess....
