Stephen Colbert on the NSA’s phone record surveillance (VIDEO)
Washington Post ^ | June 7, 2013 | Sean Sullivan

Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert looks at the National Security Agency decision to collect the telephone records of millions of Americans.

Colbert @1:15: "The National Security Agency is spying on our phone calls and unlike during the Bush Administration, this time it's the Obama Administration. Yeah, this guy (pointing at Obama's photo) is always trying to out-do his predecessor. Oh he poured water on their face? I'm gonna blow him up!"

An excellent summary of the latest news and severe smack-down of Obama served up to the Millenials in his audience. Obama is losing the comedians and, as he taught Alinski, he knows that mockery is devastating and hard to defend against.

Regardless of his latest comedy routing re: this, Colbert is an asshole.

People are forgetting that this government has identified Tea Partiers, gun control advocates and other conservatives as “terrorists”. When we read that the phone spying efforts were aimed at rooting out terrorists and their networks, I do not think that the government thinks that “terrorist” means what we think it means. I think that they wanted to monitor US calling patterns to identify conservatives and their allies.

I suspect you're right...

He enjoyed the Tea Party groups being targeted by the IRS.

He is a radical and no friend to any patriot who is for more freedoms, less government.

I’m sure there’s a file somewhere on Colbert that will get him back into line.

I think you are both correct and would just like to throw in: “For blackmail and intimidation purposes...”

Oh the left is so predictable;STFU with the hypocrisy.Colbert is an A.H. clown.Who cares what he or anybody on the left think now.I include myself in my comment:We should have done more to stop this and better get it together to save what’s left to salvage.Mark Levin shouted from the roof tops and we really have only ourselves to blame.I HATE all liberals. They are a nasty lot no matter what degree.Liberalism is a cancer and a mental disorder.I am tired of the middle fingers from the left.We need to break those fingers off and make them regret the war they are waging on us.Yea right,it’s never going to happen because we are locked in a rotten to the core political and government system, low information voters and slaves to the state. How does it feel to have the Obama boot on the neck and gun to the head?Give Obama credit,he has done what he set out to do.Our GOP is on their knees doing various things.

Even if you’re not literally right, that is exactly the problem with this. Any government can easily justify in its own mind labelling its domestic political enemies as treasonous, and in doing so justify: Lying about attacks on our soil, using the IRS to abuse citizens, harrassment of journalists, etc.

How much of a leap is it, when these powers to surveil exist so readily, to use them to take down primary challengers and political opponents? No leap at all.

It’s especially refreshing to see a member of the White House Propaganda Division finally describe a form of enhanced interrogation as nothing more than pouring water on his face.

Very likely a slip, but welcome still.

I have an inexplicable fondness for the Gawker family of blogs, despite their overt progressivism. The comments there are excoriating Obama over this. When they’ve lost the peeps at Gawker, Gizmodo, and Jezebel, there’s not much of a constituency left to lose....

I hope Colbert is still mad about his sister getting her arse kicked in the Congressional election last month.

Their parents raised assholes.
