In a statement on the Senate floor this morning, Republican leader Mitch McConnell signaled he'd vote for cloture for the immigration bill. But he also suggested the bill needs to be amended.
"The Gang of Eight has done its work. Now its time for the Gang of 100 to do its work for the entire Senate to have its say on this issue, and see if we can do something to improve the status quo. At the risk of stating the obvious, this bill has serious flaws," McConnell said, then suggesting he'd vote for cloture, the motion to proceed.
Ill vote to debate it and for the opportunity to amend it, but in the days ahead there will need to be major changes to this bill if its going to become law. These include, but are not limited to, the areas of border security, government benefits, and taxes."
McConnell then says he'll look to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for more than an "assurance":
Im going to need more than an assurance from Secretary Napolitano, for instance, that the border is secure to feel comfortable about the situation on the border. Too often recently, we have been reminded that as government grows it becomes less responsible to the American people, and fails to perform basic functions either through incompetence or willful disregard of the wishes of Congress. Our continued failure to secure major portions of the border not only makes true immigration reform far more difficult; it presents an urgent threat to national security.

The status quo is that the administration refuses to carry out duly legislated, black letter immigration law. So as a reward for shirking responsibility, Mcconnell will instead rework the law to forgive those who have stolen into the country. Then, on the back of the current administration scandals, while also watching this president loudly refuse to enforce DADT and all current immigration law, Mcconnell and the rinos believe this president will enforce this new law.
He also continues to support ObamaCARE which makes
HIM and Islam exempt.
And with McCain, he helps al Qaeda.
THERE ARE TWO AMERICAs.
McConnell and Obamas .... and the rest of us.
McConnell knows it will pass.
Dems are laughing their azzes off on twitter at these fake protestations from the GOP. Everyone with a brain knows the fix is in.
The beltway GOP has no clothes and they are too self absorbed to realize they are fooling nobody.
G..O..P...Gang .. Of .. Pansies
No amnesty stupid!
Kick them out of this country.
Public service really pays.
McConnell is even worse than McCain. McCain openly advocates for the Dem-Rat position. McConnell always talks tough and pretends to oppose the Dem-Rats before predictably caving in.
Well, I guess the Republican primary voters in KY are just as bad as those in AZ.
What kind of immigrants are we talking about? Are we talking about murderous muslims? Or are we talking about Christian Mexicans?
I think we played this game with Health Care, just different scape goat.
Once any form of this bill passes, the House will pass some other turd sandwich and then they will get together and reconcile the whole mess into something that will destroy the Republic forever.
Tears of laughter maybe.
What do they care? They’ll be tucked away in their gated communities with their primo health care plans, immune from the consequences of their deviltry. It’s only the unwashed who will have to deal.
Spot. On.
Conservatives must support a primary challenge against McConnell. Mitch needs to go.
Some Congresscritters no doubt blackmailed into support by the NSA overwatchers because of the biometric ID portions of the bill.
DC has become a bacchanalian incestuous orgy, binging on the Wine of Power and Prestige while doing a Shaker dance in an echo chamber of self interest, with the Nation, and the Constitution be damned.
It it time people, for a new party.
he GOP has shafted us for the last time
How does that “We gotta vote republican no matter what/principles don’t matter/purists are killing the party/lesser evil” sandwich taste?
This is what you get for it folks. The next time you see a psuedocon spouting this crap, be sure to thank them.
What in the heck is Rand Paul thinking?
