Snowden heads to Venezuela via Moscow, Havana: airline source
Reuters ^ | 6/23/2013

Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.

The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.

The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".

The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.

But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

Naturally, he can only travel to nations hostile to the USA, otherwise, he’d be “renditioned” back to the USA asap.

This is too rich. The balloon is floated that this guy will be traveling to all the communist hotspots of past and present enemies, and the conservatives fly off the handle accusing this guy of being a traitor.............Do you really think that this Snowden would be that dense to announce any travel plans he may have? ............

I only got through the first page, but at last, a sensible post. Yup, it seems we conservatives do that a lot. As an alternative to .. oh, I dunno ... some kind of actual action against the horrors being dumped on us in America? This source is Reuters, for cryin' out loud!

You know, some of us might should (double verb much used in Texas, therefore correct) learn to engage brain (including watchfulness) before engaging mouth (...uh ...keyboard)

Let's just watch the boy. Rand Paul seems to think he's okay.

The guy at the very least is another attention whore. He went around the world to tell just about everyone else whatever information he had going on. It pretty much comes down to Snowden throwing a fit for just about everyone to see. As for Obama, please, it took him HOW LONG TO EVEN CONSIDER SNOWDEN A TRAITOR?!!! This stinks of incompetence from our POTUS to me. But what else can we expect from some spoiled kid (yes, he’s really that immature) who never really had to act as a manager?

As soon as the Russians copy the hard drives on his computers they’ll kick him out.

That is a good question! It’s pretty obvious he hates ours. How many secrets has he given out or authorized?

So much for our vaunted intelligence community. Let me see, this is how many blunders since 9/11/01? The only good thing is that we did get bin laden and maybe some of his people. The Chinese will not be as easily surveiled if we keep giving our most treasured secrets to young inexperienced people. What has happened to my country?

Why wouldn’t they? They got everything from him that he could steal. Why keep a guy around who would sell his country out to them? They know very well he can’t be trusted.

It should be obvious that the President has loyalty only to himself. What entity does he most frequently refer to in his speeches, so much so that it has become comical?

If the United States wants him badly enough, it won’t matter where he goes. Hopefully that happens sooner than later.

The disturbing part is that he’s managed to be out this long with no consequences against him. Usually something would happen that would not be in Snowden’s favor.

I also see ... comparisons between Snowden and Manning. Not the same at all!

Yes, I've seen them too. Apples and oranges.

Snowden did the right thing to blow the whistle on the Stasi-like activities of this out-of-control government agency. How can one even think of honoring an oath to a government that is in TREASON to the people and the Constitution?

He's probably booked on Aeroflot flight SU 150, a non-stop (important) departing at 14:05 (06:05 Eastern). There is an earlier flight at 07:25, but it makes a stop in Paris

SU 150 would normally take him over US airspace. I will be interesting to see if this flight deviates from its usual route to stay out of it or if it will be tempting the government to force it to land like it did with the Achille Lauro hijackers in 1985.

“Iceland might be an uphill battle for Snowden. Icelandic MP Birgitta Jónsdóttir writes:”

I did not know that the Icelandic PM had made that statement.

The main thrust of what I was trying to say is that if the U.S.A. had wanted Fischer they would have captured him one way or another. They did not want to capture Fischer.

I do not believe that they actually want Snowden, either. Capturing him would open up a can of worms for the government. It would be almost impossible for the government to prosecute Snowden without exposing even more ‘illegal’ actions by said government.

This guy is operating against our interests. I never did think his story rang true.

And lying corrupt government, who have now been exposed for illegally monitoring, spying on, wire tapping, threatening, targeting, harassing by Snowden and others, have your best interest in mind? Are you freaking kidding?

Suck up the corrupt biggov propaganda.

You're now aligned with Pelosi, homo Lindsay Graham, Obama and the rest of the lying corrupt running government.

Of course, I am not surprised by your comment.

SU 150 would normally take him over US airspace.

Indeed. Currently over northern Quebec. I don't know how accurate that link is, but zoom in and check out how it follows the west coast of Florida before dropping into Havana. Hope he has a window seat.

Based on reports over the weekend....Snowden planned this months ago. I imagined that when he arrived in Hawaii...he walked into work every single day with a thumb-drive.

I would also imagine that he’s left various virus items within their system. And it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s connected the secure network....to a in-house unclassified network, where he downloads new stuff easily and daily. The whole facility....in my mind...ought to be shutdown and just closed. You can’t trust the integrity of that building anymore.
