NBC’s Gregory asks Greenwald if he should be charged for aiding Snowden
The Hill ^ | 6/23/2013 | Jennifer Martinez

Posted on 06/23/2013 11:30:24 AM PDT by Thane_Banquo

The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald slammed NBC's "Meet the Press" host David Gregory on Sunday for asking whether he should be charged with a crime for "aiding and abetting" former government contractor Edward Snowden, who leaked classified information to him about the National Security Agency's surveillance operations.

"To the extent that you have aided and abetted Snowden, even in his current movements, why shouldn't you, Mr. Greenwald, be charged with a crime?" Gregory asked on the news show.

Greenwald immediately rejected the premise of the question, calling it an "pretty extraordinary" question for a journalist to ask another peer.

"I think it's pretty extraordinary that anybody who would call themselves a journalist would publicly muse about whether or not other journalists should be charged with felonies. The assumption in your question, David, is completely without evidence, the idea that I've aided and abetted him in any way," Greenwald responded, speaking via video satellite from Brazil.

I think we all know that Gregory would be praising Snowden and anyone connected with him if this had happened on Bush’s watch. Gregory is a mindless partisan, not a journalist.

I am increasingly concerned that the American people may need to do something to push back this assault on basic civil liberties, or else we will quickly descend into the thousand years of darkness that Reagan warned us about.

If that were true David Gregory, then just about every journalist, State Department and CIA Shadow Warrior and Democrat staffer should also be tried, convicted, and hanged for treason.

Considering that Obama sees the American public as his enemy, and I certainly hope he is becoming more right on that question, it almost sounds appropriate.

Lyrics from a "Psy" song.

Kill those — Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives
Kill those — Yankees who ordered them to torture
Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law, and fathers
Kill them all slowly and painfully

The Obama administration leaked information that hurt national security when it made Obama look good. This is all about intimidating and punishing leakers who don't serve to make Obama look good.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of what Snowden did, I don't want Obama to be able to crush him, if only because of the fear that would inspire in other would-be whistleblowers. Snowden makes me think of that Chinese man who stood in front of the line of tanks during the crackdown at Tiananmen Square.

Mr. Gregory is about to be persona non grata with his leftist liberal viewers, many of whom are on Mr. Snowden’s side of this equation. Gregory was between a rock and a hard spot, supporting the Obama viewpoint or that of his liberal fans rooting for Snowden. He chose to advocate for his true love, Obama, and may very well lose the support or viewership of his socialist, leftist base as a result.

I’m with you on that!

Plain, air-popped popcorn makes a great substitute for Styrofoam peanuts for packing and shipping fragile items. Similarly, Styrofoam peanuts make a reasonable substitute for plain popcorn for snacking.
