NBC’s Gregory asks Greenwald if he should be charged for aiding Snowden

The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald slammed NBC's "Meet the Press" host David Gregory on Sunday for asking whether he should be charged with a crime for "aiding and abetting" former government contractor Edward Snowden, who leaked classified information to him about the National Security Agency's surveillance operations.

"To the extent that you have aided and abetted Snowden, even in his current movements, why shouldn't you, Mr. Greenwald, be charged with a crime?" Gregory asked on the news show.

Greenwald immediately rejected the premise of the question, calling it an "pretty extraordinary" question for a journalist to ask another peer.

"I think it's pretty extraordinary that anybody who would call themselves a journalist would publicly muse about whether or not other journalists should be charged with felonies. The assumption in your question, David, is completely without evidence, the idea that I've aided and abetted him in any way," Greenwald responded, speaking via video satellite from Brazil.

He hit the nail on the head. David Gregory is not a journalist, but a political hack who does what Obama tells him to do.

David works directly for the White House. I surprise he did not show him the dead horse head.

Did you ask yourself why?

Mr. Gregory is the husband of a major lawyer for
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which own THE patent
which is about to get the biggest Communist “kick”
of all time this week ... with Global Warming.

Gregory loves cozying up to anti-American trash like himself.

Lyrics from a "Psy" song.

Kill those — Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives
Kill those — Yankees who ordered them to torture
Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law, and fathers
Kill them all slowly and painfully

Sounds like Greenwald slammed Gregory pretty hard, then went to twitter and clearly got under Gregory’s skin.

Greenwald 2, Gregory 0.

If we threw in lawyers we might just save the nation.

FWOW. George Stephanopoulos on ABC puts together a pretty good show, and his panels always include at least one conservative.

“...calling it an “pretty extraordinary” question for a journalist to ask another peer.”

There’s the problem Mr. Greenberg...Gregory is not a journalist.

"Who needs the government to try to criminalize journalism when you have David Gregory to do it?"

Although Greenwald may be a bit left for my ideological liking, I must give credit where credit is due.

That was one fine bitch slap he put on David Gregory's sycophantic mug.

The Obama administration leaked information that hurt national security when it made Obama look good. This is all about intimidating and punishing leakers who don't serve to make Obama look good.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of what Snowden did, I don't want Obama to be able to crush him, if only because of the fear that would inspire in other would-be whistleblowers. Snowden makes me think of that Chinese man who stood in front of the line of tanks during the crackdown at Tiananmen Square.

I admire Greenwald for exercising restraint. If I were him, I would have stood up and beat Gregory to a bloody pulp on camera.

Gregory;
Mr Greenwald, what makes you any different than FOX News' James Rosen?

... Obama should be watching you both!

Mr. Gregory is about to be persona non grata with his leftist liberal viewers, many of whom are on Mr. Snowden’s side of this equation. Gregory was between a rock and a hard spot, supporting the Obama viewpoint or that of his liberal fans rooting for Snowden. He chose to advocate for his true love, Obama, and may very well lose the support or viewership of his socialist, leftist base as a result.

Small popcorn, please...hold the salt, easy on the butter.

Screw that! Make with the salt and extra butter. I want my arteries to crack like dried spaghetti when I'm done with this popcorn!

Treason is the act of giving aid and comfort to the enemy. This guy is charged with treason for giving information to the American public?

Beginning to see just exactly where you you stand with both establishment parties in all 3 branches and all levels of government yet? This isn't left vs right. It isn't dem vs pubbie. It's "us" vs "them."
