"In the worst case the future of the US may be to descend ever further into totalitarianism until our country- ---"

One thing not considered is that if the United States gets near to the point of collapse and subsequent revolt, the new ruling class may well be the Red Chinese, not a new caste of American conservatives. Power abhors a vacuum, and the Chinese will be in the position to fill the vacuum left by American disintegration.

I'm not certain the fire in the belly is spent, I think we are more like shell shocked with the our inability to stop this administration, shell shocked that the dems won the election last year.

It's possible there will be a rebound, possible the fire will return, possible the realization of the illegal take out of the TEA party by the administration will rally us. I doubt the idea of a revolution happening soon, conservatives are too fragmented to make that work. We will need some leaders to stand forth to rally around, we will need to rally ourselves, it's just hard to know how to do so.

The ONE THING we must do right now is rally the House to kill the immigration bill. If we do not do that, conservatives will truly become a minority in perpetuity, and the revolution from the other side will be cemented forever.

In the book Nineteen Eighty-Four, Winston Smith heard a commotion that sounded like a riot.
He thought to himself, ‘The paroles have finally revolted!’
So he turns the corner and finds that it is a large crowd of housewives fighting over cheap but scarce cooking pots.

The emergence of a charismatic leader may BE the precipitating event. Once this rogue government sees that a resistance is galvanizing under one banner, it will have three choices:

1) Ignore it and hope it goes away
2) Defuse it by addressing the movement’s concerns
3) Crush it by force.

In the cases of 1 and 3, the movement will continue to grow, and will further polarize the uncommitted; people will be forced to take sides. If any move is made to coerce the leader into silence, the government will show itself as no respecter of the Constitution or the rule of law. Even liberals will then either have to confront their own hypocrisy or side with the resistance.

It is vital that we stop giving ground in the false belief that accommodation will somehow deter our enemies. It didn’t work for Neville Chamberlain and it won’t work for us. All we’re doing is reducing our portion of the battlefield.

I first read this back in 2009 or so:

****************************************

From Survivors Writings of Jeff Cooper--

In the 80's, enrolled in one of Jeff's European classes was a German identified as "Gerhardt". He had been a Waffen SS trooper captured by the Soviets at the end of WWII. One Evening, discoursing upon philosophy, Gerhardt looked at Jeff and asked "How many good men are there in the world per hundred"? Jeff, seldom optimistic about human nature replied "Maybe one."

"Wrong!", Gerhardt replied. Then he proceeded to make his point. In 1945 Gerhardt had found himself with 30,000 other German soldiers held in a frigid labor camp in northwestern Russia. It was plain that the Germans were there to be exploited, worked and or starved to death. Faced with near certainty of extinction, the Germans took stock. As experienced warriors, they recognized their keepers as low quality troops: gatekeepers rather than true soldiers. Gerhardt and a handful of others reckoned that with 200 men they could take over the camp and then worry about Plan B. But first they needed to obtain control of the facility with its food and shelter.

The Germans needed 200 out of 30,000 -- they got 10.

As Gerhart pronounced, real men are the exception rather than the rule. Gerhart himself escaped, the trek home took him a year and a half across Russia, killing only when necessary, an estimated 20 to 50 times. 10 out of 30,000, One in 3000. In decimal terms 0.00033-- from German Soldiers.... For Americans concerned with preserving the Bill of Rights, using measuring stick from Gerhart, of the NRA 3 million members that is only 1000 good men. Of the 70 million gun owners in the USA.. that is 23,000 good men

Of course we are not talking life or death, we are not talking about who is willing to to risk possible death in preference to a slow death later.....

But everyone has options in the centuries-long struggle to preserve our way of life. The choices are clear, you can sit around bemoaning the current political climate or you can start working toward "change".

Anyone can donate money. But are you willing to to donate some of your time and expend some effort. If so for how long and how often. The new president began as a "community organizer". Are you willing to do as much? How often are you willing to stand up and state your opinion? How often are you willing to write or e-mail your elected politicians? How often are you willing to make phone calls? How often are you willing to stuff and address envelopes? How often are you willing to take people shooting? How often are you willing to recruit new NRA members? Its for your own self-respect.

Do Something by Barett Tillman of the Dillon Blue Press

*************************************

Food for thought, albeit realistic and therefore sharply pessimistic. But one never can know in advance, sometimes God *does* provide.

I do not think so. Any other country will simply sit on the sidelines and munch on popcorn.

No. Americans are too busy to revolt. And we’ve gotten too good at grousing, all the complaining and rabble rousing of a revolution, without anybody shooting at you.

Our government has learned to rule against the will of the people. Our reps are corrupt. Aliens have more rights than citizens. The media propaganda machine denies fair reporting of the effect.

Now why would anyone think we want a revolution?

Revolt is actually more likely here than in countries that have never known freedom or representative government, because some Americans know what they’ve lost.

What concerns me is that many Americans don’t seem to know that they’ve lost anything.

You will find quite a wellspring of support for Palin, right here on FR.

Over 120 million people voted in the last election. On a very Conservative site Sarah Palin may draw some support. but in the general population? Not so much I suspect.

Sarah Palin won't run in 2016. Unlike 2012, there is a very strong line up of Conservative Governors, plus the likes of Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. Sarah Palin's opportunity has come and gone. You can't sit on the sidelines for 10-plus years, do nothing (media appearances aside) and expect to run a successful candidacy for President.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but winning back the Presidency starts with living in reality. Sarah Palin had so much promise when she stepped on the stage back in 2008, but that promise has never materialized into the leader so many of us had hoped she would one day become.

There will be awesome Conservative candidates to choose from in 2016, but Palin will not be among them.

Why does a leader of a protest movement have to be the final leader of the country? Rick Santelli kinda got the TEA Party rolling and I don't see his name on the list of next leaders of the USA.

What is the point of a protest movement? Many of us protested the blue blood liberal from Mass by staying at home in November. How is that working out for us?

If what you want is a leader for your protest, then by all means get Sarah. I am just suggesting that the other 95% of the country will be unmoved.

What concerns me is that many Americans don’t seem to know that they’ve lost anything.

As witnessed by the weak reaction to the NSA targeting of American citizens, all in the name of "safety". We are rapidly becoming a police state all the while people walking the streets thinking "that can never happen in America" as the story plays out in front of their eyes. Frightening times.

Wait until the worse of Obamacare hits. That will be when Americans wake up and protest bigtime.

Wrong.

But we will have to simply disagree, for a year or so.

If funding to the great unwashed non=workers cease, e.g. foodstamps, unemployment, free everything to illegals, well-fare, then there will be rioting much like a baby cries for its bottle.

The rest of us are just waiting for a spark, a unifying message, or a leader to take this country back.

I don’t know what or who to believe.
